While passing through Dalby and in search of a light lunch, we decided to revisit a café where we had enjoyed an early coffee. The lunch menu offered plenty of choices at reasonable prices. We ended up ordering the tasty toasted 'Treenie' sandwich, which was generously filled. To accompany our meal, we had a chocolate milkshake that brought back fond memories of childhood. The staff were friendly and provided quick service. We were glad we stopped by this restaurant.
Passing through Dalby on the first leg of a trip to Adelaide, we drove up and down Dalby's main drag and picked Katrina's popular little cafe. A charming comfy country ambience and welcoming staff Tick. Lovely unusual menu and mouthwatering little sweet cakes and tarts Tick. A happy cue of friendly locals and mixed crowd packed into every table inside and out Tick. Chatting to charming locals about weather and the farm produce market Tick. Freaked out by cost of our "picnic" of sandwiches, cakes, and juices of $27. 50. Mm!When we stopped at popular local Lake Broadwater picnic and camp spot, settled at a table and opened Katty's picnic fare.Oh WOW! Then we realised we had the most delicious value for money gourmet picnic basket. I enjoyed every bite of my chicken Waldorf sandwich with macadamia nuts and the Junk Food King was actually the one who exclaimed "This is a gourmet salad on bread". We saved the exquisite little lime cakes for our first night in the Clare Valley.
My husband and I had coffee here today (12/7) on the recommendation of Sonya, the barber up the street. Cakes are all hand made, and walls are lined with pictures of wedding and birthday cakes. I gather they can be ordered. I asked for a flat white mug, extra hot and no froth for me and a weak latte for my husband. The cakes looked good so we ordered two. On sitting at our table I noticed a lady eating a sandwich, so I asked if I could change my order from cake to sandwich. My husband is the one with the sweet tooth. This was no problem. Although they were busy, our orders soon arrived. My chicken Caesar sandwich on multigrain was delicious. My husband was very happy with his cake. Our coffees arrived as ordered. We would definitely come back again.
Staff are so friendly and helpful. The food (my favourite was the grilled chicken/avo) is very well done and filling. The cupcakes are just delightful, and it's too hard to pick one!! They are gorgeously decorated too. I really enjoyed my coffee as well. A small cafe, but definitely worth the stop.
