We chose to eat here as historically our family have frequented the place under its previous owners; it is a poor incarnation of what it used to be. We had some drinks, ordered our starters (a sharing salad) and ordered our main courses. The salad was pleasant enough but the problems began on the arrival of our main courses. My wife and I had swordfish and tuna respectively which were decent enough however I have had a lot better else where. However my parents food (chicken and a fillet of fish) were completely raw in the middle; and by raw I mean completely uncooked whereby there was no way of confusing it for personal taste. I was furious and summonsed the waitress over and made her look at it and informed her (in Spanish) that the food they served was very bad and could of ended up hospitalising my parents. She told me to calm down which was put to short shrift my myself. I made the decision that we would not be parting with any of our money for food that wasn't bad but in fact dangerous. I got my parents to begin walking away from the area and the manager came over to continue the argument on behalf of his member of staff. He seemed to try and cloud the issue through trying to cloud the waters with language issues which didn't really work with my fluent Spanish speaking wife and eventually he conceded defeat and we left the location. Cooking chicken is a fundamental basic in food preparation and hygiene. It begs the question if 50% of your meals on a table are raw then what standard of cleanliness is employed in the kitchen. They tried to argue the point of serving raw food. Eat here at your own risk, raw chicken and fish is not just unpleasant it can kill. No apologies from the staff just arguments. On my experience they need their processes and kitchen procedures overhauled.
The restaurant is now under chef/patron Fernando and his English girlfriend Karen. They are friendly and accommodating. There is a good honest many not necessarily relying on standard Valencian fayre. Menu del dia is good value at 12 euros and unlike some is substantial and home-cooked. Highly recommended
Every year I go for a paella and it's always great. On the terrace it is luxurious and the waiters are very friendly and helpful. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €10–20
