What was closer was to drive the few kilometers to Cuxhaven and sneak fresh fish there again. Since we wanted to conquer the old fishing port, of course this was our first destination. But the disappointment was spread quickly, with the exception of the “Fishbörse”, where we were already a day before lunch, all other fish restaurants had closed for the evening. Okay, so the few meters went to the “Loyds”, but this store was full of breaks on Friday night. There was nothing left to run until the new fishing port. There we stood before several opened guest roses, and we chose “The Little Fish Box” which we visited last year. Close menu So in the fish box, and there was almost everything occupied for Friday night. Immediately at the entrance there was a table for us four, so we took it, although we didn't like it so directly at the door. This also seemed to have been noticed by the service because it offered us to take another place where the guests had paid. But now we had time to review the modern restaurant that is decorated in the style of a bistros. Large tables, rustic wooden chairs and small room dividers should make the stay pleasant. From the large counter you have the entire restaurant in view. We sat on one of the few small elevations in a cozy corner. But obviously we forgot. The farms rushed all over the restaurant, but we didn't pay attention. Even new guests who now sat on our first places already got their appetizers, we had not even left our food order yet. After incredible 25 minutes, an operation started at our table and accepted our order. If all the restaurants weren't full, I'd rather have left the store. So we ordered a clear fish soup with lots of fish inlay for 5,00 € as an appetizer for me, as a main dish, my small and large daughter ordered the cable jam with Remoulade sauce and homemade potato salad a ́ 12,00 €, my wife ordered the »Bootsmann-Teller« with redfish fillet, cod fillet, sollen fillet and sea salmon The clear fish soup with lots of fish inlay then did not take long to get to our place after the order. After my wife had tasted from the broth, we were also very fast over the flavor enhancers in the game, as she reacts allergicly to such things, we could recognize this within a few minutes on the redness of her skin. For this purpose, the flavor enhancers are used, and this is then even € 1.10 more expensive than in the "fishery", we give it point removal. The most important foods were then with us almost 30 minutes after the order. Salad to Halibut Steak There was a mixed salad that was drowned in plentiful dressing and many sunflowers and other cereals. In addition, on the plate a small bowl with white herbal salad, which came best from the large market. Also here delicious roast potatoes. The saluted steak was well seasoned and pleasant in taste. I don't know if the €19.50 is justified. All in all, we left almost 80 euros here. To compare one day before lunch in the "Fischerbörse" with comparable food (except Heilbuttsteak), we only paid € 55.00. That's 25 euros more. The old grandmother has to work for a long time.... There's nothing to complain about cleanliness. Guest rooms and sanitary facilities were clean and well maintained. Conclusion: The food really delicious, unfortunately partly stretched with flavor enhancers or finished powder. Prices are significantly higher than in the old fishing harbour, but also one of the few restaurants that opened in this corner in the evening. Only the service should remember that the customer pays his salary. We had the same problem in 2014. The food has partially improved in the positives, the service is still back. And in the future, please do without flavor enhancers. We don't need that!
You are hungry and looking for fish? Then this is a place to go for you! The fish is fresh, the portion is huge, the service is friendly and fast. Last but...
We were invited for lunch by regular diners of this place, who claimed that the restaurant has the best fish dishes in town. Their claim was not far from truth. I truly enjoyed my choice which was Schollen filets stuffed with smoked salmon and north sea shrimps. The Schollen was fresh and tasty. I didn't even need any salt, pepper or sauce to have it with. The portion size was generous - two big filets, one big slice of smoked salmon, a spoonful of shrimps , accompanied by long grain wild rice (or you can ask for fried potatoes the german way or French fries) and dill sauce. The dish is certainly value for money (16€). Services were excellent - fast, friendly, efficient. The interior is cosy and airy. Next to the restaurant is a fish shop where it certainly smells fishy - but the restaurant does not have such a smell - which is a plus side. I can certainly recommend this restaurant to visitors of Cuxhaven if they want to enjoy real fresh fish dishes. The menu for fish choices is large including salmon, cod, Rotbarsch, Limandes, Seelachs, Zander (sorry, I don't know English names of some of these fish). There also serve à la carte breakfast at reasonable prices between 4-6€ (higher for the choices with shrimps or multiple selection) which includes rolls, butter, jam, smoked salmon, boiled egg, cheeses, scrambled eggs, North Sea shrimps, coffee or tea. I will certainly go back there.
Spontaneously here. in the midday it was rugged, many reserved tables. the food tasted only moderately. the scholle was not long enough in the pan and hardly ever seasoned. bratkartoffeln were okay. the service ran fast, but emotionless.
We always like to get into the small fish box. a lob to the personal, we are very satisfied
