Ocean Dunes King Island Hotel - Currie

The prices for both drinks and meals at this restaurant were too high, so we decided to dine elsewhere. It's pretty standard for a restaurant to charge extra for paying with a credit card, but I always assumed that was factored into the overall cost of the meal.

My experience at this restaurant was not pleasant. When we ordered 2 Lemon, Lime and Bitters, the staff suggested adding vodka which was not what we wanted. The ambiance was lacking, with loud music and employees who were rough and swore often. It did not feel inviting or welcoming, and there was no friendly chatter. Overall, as holidaymakers, we did not have a nice experience at this establishment.

Many dinners on the island were closed when we visited in January, as there was a lack of chefs, so we had no choice than to dine at the hotel. I had read about how great King I's milk and beef was, but couldn't believe the garbage buckets they served. Overpriced very simple pub food with seriously inedible steaks with fat and Gristle. Very disappointed, in my experience, I would not recommend. We're not going back.

Not many options in town but not a problem. Friendly staff, very well priced drinks, good food menu and good size portions. Offers accommodation as well if desired.
