We were in Tepoztlan in mid-July 2013. The selection restaurants is this city is limited but we stopped by Casa Vieja by chance and were not disappointed. While the menu consisted of the same fare as many of the other eating establishments, Guadalupe, our waitress...was very nice and helpful. She made what would have been an average meal into a fulfilling experience. We had the Ribeye that while not cooked to our preference (medium **** was large and came with a bottle of average red wine. The guacamole was fresh and she made the tortillas to my exacting specifications (just left a little longer on the comal to make crispy and almost burned-yummy! The consome de pollo was just what the doctor ordered to top it all off we had front row seats to a thunder and lighting spectacle from the 2nd floor balcony like no other. The lights went out and Guadalupe brought out a candle and voila a romantic dinner totally unplanned. Go and enjoy yourself.
Location of the restaurant is on the main street that leads to pyramid. When we came in the tables at the balcony were available so we took them. The view is decent, but better take a table at the very top of the restaurant, at...small balcony there are cables hanging in the air from the street. Bathroom were in a good shape, quite clean. Waitress didn´t have quite well knowledge of the menu. Besides that the paper menu by itself wasn´t in a really good shape. Food was good quality and the portions were pretty big. We paid around 220 pesos for two dishes and a one coke in a can (I have expected a bottle... . The coke in can was 22 pesos, my chilaquiles were 80 pesos. Everything was served pretty fast. The staff wasn´t paying much attention after we got our food. When we asked for a check we waited a while to get it, then to pay we had to come to a waiter by ourselves because he wasn´t paying any attention at all. Then we had to wait some time to receive our change. Restaurant and location is nice. The prices are reasonable, but the service is not really good.
