Wagon Wheel - Cuba

Charming Route 66 motel, beautifully renovated with many original features. The rooms are clean, though a bit small. It's conveniently located near the city of Cuba. There are lovely shared outdoor spaces that encourage interaction with other guests.

Room was 85 degrees and we had ants. Now the ants were fixed quickly with a bottle of raid. The AC we were told was blowing cold air so there was nothing to do. When we talked to the owner again in the morning she said we should of called, her grandson who brought the raid should have advised us to do that. Well he is the one that said it was blowing cold air so nothing could be done. And we paid A LOT for what this room was!! To stay in the historic Rt 66 motel was the best part. And the neon lights were nice to look at too. Our friends that had a different room did not have these issues and enjoyed their stay.

The booking experience alone is very dated and opens you to identity theft. You fill out a Google Form with ALL of your CC information. No telling how vulnerable that is. We only gave the information once it was confirmed that a certain room was available. After information was given, we were then told that the larger room we wanted #21) was not in fact available and we could get a second room if we wanted for the full price of another room). At that point they had my information so I just got 1 room for the 4 of us to cram into.Room itself is SMALL and thankfully it was only one night. The ice machine was an ice chest with a bag of ice in it. Don 't know if the washer/dryer work or not. That being said, the grounds were nice at night and we got to see lightning bugs for the first time in a while. The best surprise was the AMAZING water pressure in the stall shower.

Like many others who've reviewed this hotel, we're traveling along Route 66 and chose this place based on recommendations. It has a charming, nostalgic atmosphere that evokes the journeys of travelers from the past. The room is clean, quiet, and the bed is comfortable. The decor, including the microwave and refrigerator, adds to the retro feel. However, I think it could have been improved, especially considering the room's price. The manager was absent when we arrived at 5:00 PM and was unreachable by phone. It would have been helpful to have someone to talk to, especially since this is a remote area with no cell service and the Wi-Fi was not functioning. As a result, we had no way of knowing what amenities were available nearby. Additionally, we encountered ants in the room, which I believe is not typical for this establishment. The yard was pleasant but showed signs of neglect, and we felt uncertain about where we could sit and relax due to the lack of management presence. Furthermore, the ice machine was out of order. In summary, this place has potential but, considering the price, we’ve experienced better historic hotels on our journey.

I absolutely adore this place!! Its absolutely adorable. we were in town for a goat show ended up having to stay in Cuba and she accommodated us with a room!! It was fast and easy booking the rooms were smoke free very clean and smelled so good when we walked in! our room was cool and had plenty of hot water to shower!! When in Cuba and need to stay we will definitely make Wagon wheel our first choice!! Will definitely stay again
