Cafe La Habana - Cuauhtémoc

Great place to breakfast. no waiting time. we stayed on Thursday to breakfast. coffee was delicious and it was a simple walk from our hotel

We've been there this morning to try their breakfast. We asked the waiter if we want cappuccino instead of americano and he said no. When the check came, he added 100 pesos for the cappuccino, as we had the americano and the cappuccino too. We...asked him why he added the cappuccino on the check, cause he said we will not be charged extra and he told us he didn't tell us this, he said they will charge extra, as we would be stupid... Worst experience.

Had to go back into Mexico City because I had a 12-hour layover from the airport. Where should I go? Aha— those tender as newfound lovers “Pancitas” at the Mercado de Juarez at Cuauhtémoc. After that, I needed to wind down the fullness in my...being. The pancitas doing a really good job in making one feel sleepy, like in the arms of a sweet sweet Abuela, after feeding you. Then I saw it. Café la Habana which is within the same area, almost. I walked along Calle Bucareli and saw it at the corner. I’ve seen it before. I was intrigued. And now I need my postres y café (perhaps some WiFi too for the Uber to the airport later) and Café la Habana is just the perfect setting. Homey with turn of the century exterior and interiors. The staff, as friendly as those who probably coddled the geniuses and writers of early 1950s Mexico. I ordered a double espresso, and asked if their Helados are all homemade. They are. I ordered Mexican Chocolate Helado and my coffee. That combination felt good and reassuring. Now I am ready to resume my 27 hour flight. Café la Habana opened in 1952 at the corner of Bucareli and los. It was said that Fidel Castro and Che Guevarra met here several times, chain smoking and drinking strong coffee, to plan the Cuban Revolution. Now I have sat (was fed) amongst the halls that witnessed history. power and glory to you, Café la Habana!

Coffee and cocktails look good, but worst food ever in Mexico and not run for the customers, staff disinterested and low standards

I often stop here to pick up coffee beans for grinding at home, and sometimes I stay for lunch. The menu is more Mexican than Cuban, but the food is good and worth checking out.
