The Surprise - Croydon

Dined here shortly before england lockdown 2.0 charming little pub in shirley with a seafood/tapas restaurant in the back. the restaurant inside is quite dark, but the toilets were very clean and they can see in the kitchen that is very soothing. service was very friendly and personal. the menu was somewhat limited as they had to close for a month, but the dishes we had were very tasty and the homemade desserts were traditional and comforting. I would definitely go back if they were in full.

I arranged a 90th birthday party for my mother. they offered a beautiful buffet and a vault to celebrate. the staff was friendly and very helpful. was perfect.

I've been twice to this place. The second time even better than the first one. They really are seafood experts. Loved it. Today I had oysters and lobster. We were lucky enough to get even some sangria. Highly recommended. I suggest to call to book a table in advance, just in case :

Such a lovely place! We loved the food, fresh and delicious! We felt like we were in a nice little paradise! The lovely woman that served us was very nice and friendly. They got fresh fish and many options for homemade desserts!

We had lunch on surprise inn for the first time on last Tuesday and it was amazing. the tapas were really delicious and very generous help. beautiful cheesecake too. we sat outside in their beautiful garden and spent a very relaxing couple of hours there. the service was perfect. emma looked us brilliant and so cheerful, although she was hastened by her feet. we were with a family member with dementia that loved and were made to feel so welcome by emma. we will definitely come back when we are back in shirley.
