Always great food. Plenty of choice. Staff always friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere
Fab food great service. We popped in here today for lunch and were very impressed. We had the Goat's Cheese, Aubergine and Rocket to start which was lovely. I had the Prawns and Spaghetti to follow and my companion had the Swordfish, both of which were cooked perfectly. For dessert we had the chocolate pot and the pannacotta both of which i could have easily eaten twice! The service was great, we sat for a long time chatting and they were in no hurry to get rid of us. Less than £40 for the two of us (from the lunch menu), including a glass of Merlot and a bottle of spring water great food at a great price, well worth a visit if you're down that way.
Somewhere new with a wow factor There 's a new addition to the restaurant scene in Croydon which is well worth a visit, writes Tamasin Coates. Aqua, which opened just a few weeks ago, is the brainchild of two highly experienced chefs, Dasos Charalambous and Dario Nardo. Both have trained and worked in some of London 's top hotels and seized the chance to open their own restaurant when the right premises came up in South End. They liked the look of the contemporary styled eaterie at 33 South End and with a few tweaks here and there to lend just a little more sophistication, opened their brasserie. Our aim is to offer people a place where they can enjoy quality food, at reasonable prices in a place where they can sit and chill, said Dasos. And I have to say the food really is first class. It 's nothing too fancy just simple, quality food cooked to perfection. We tried starters of pan fried tiger prawns with chilli, garlic, ginger and parsley £6.95). My husband, who is a bit of a chilli addict, was really wowed with this while I loved the pan seared scallops which came with really fresh and lightly cooked asparagus. Dasos described the menu as offering 'modern European cuisine ' and you will find a good choice of everything from steak with beef which has been dry aged for 28 days served with hand cut chips, tomatoes Provencal, béarnaise or peppercorn sauce) to roasted sea bass and monkfish tails. We plumped for two of our favourites slow braised lamb shank and parsnip mash £11.95) and pan fried calves liver with smoked bacon, mash and sage shallot jus £11.50). Now I know many restaurants will feature lamb shank but this was something else the meat did really fall off the bone and had the most exquisite flavour. My husband who is more used than I to dining out in some of London 's fancier places, said one would normally pay at least double this price for this standard of food. But don 't just take my word for it give it a try.
What an incredible restaurant! The food was out of this world, and I can't wait for my next visit. I highly recommend the fish plate and the Cornish crab as a starter.
