Unfortunately we had a puppy barking next to us during our stay. The front desk did help and take the dog during the day but they had to put it back at night, because its owner left it all day and most of the night. So we did have to hear a puppy barking at night, the owner finally came back around 11 11:30 PM. Since we couldn 't sleep, my husband took a shower that night. He opened the door and the steam set off the fire alarm. We called down and unfortunately they said that the system was broke and the engineering team was off-duty so they had to move us to a different room in the middle of the night. The next day we went to talk to the manager about all the unfortunate events that happened during our stay, he then said that the security/maintenance staff said that they smelled smoke in our room which is why the fire alarm went off and they couldn 't do anything to accommodate us. It 's very unfortunate to think that their staff had to lie in order to cover their tracks of having a broken fire alarm system. I 'm not sure why we would immedietly call them upstairs when the alarm was going off, if we were trying to cover up us smoking. It makes no sense. The only upside of this hotel was at the food was amazing inside! We won 't be staying here again, we can cross it off the bucket list.
Went to stay at Liberty Hotel as it is next door to Mass General hospital . I was having surgery early Monday morning. Room was spacious and quiet . Hotel is in great area , not just for hospital . I want to give a shout out to Ali Elhasany especially and Youssef Haidar, hotel valets . After my discharge, my wife called for car but it was dead . Ali volunteered to drive us home , 12 miles away , and instruct tow truck driver where to take the car. Tow was coming 2 hours or more later and we could not wait . I cannot explain how much that meant especially being uncomfortable after surgery . This was above and beyond. This was compassion. I am indebted to them . Having a hotel staffed by caring people speaks volumes .
The Liberty lives up to its 5 star rating. The rooms, food, bar, and entertainment were all top notch. The historical charm of the hotel is not lost with the modern upgrades . Our son loved the old features of the prison and thought it was the coolest. but by far the best part of the Liberty hotel is the staff . Austin went above and beyond all means of service and out of his way to show our family kindness. He paid special attention to our son and made him feel at home by giving him markers and things to draw with. None of that is in his job title. We highly recommend the hotel and reach out to Austin to make your stay amazing.
I would like to thank Sylvia P for making sure we had a wonderfully view for my great-niece’s 14th birthday. Everything about this hotel is great! The lobby has either a DJ, Jazz Trio, etc. depending on the night. The bartenders are great personable. We had a fantastic waitress at Alibi. The food was just ok, but the service drinks were excellent. The beds are very comfortable. Rooms are very clean. The bathroom has a nice soaking tub. It’s a nice touch to give a sip of champagne at check in. Room service from Clink was excellent. If you’re tired of boring chains, this property has character!
Cool hotel on the Charles River in an old jailhouse. Great location as you can walk practically everywhere. The valet and front desk were very friendly. Big shout out to Andrew at the front desk who was super helpful and friendly everytime I had a question or just walking by to the elevators. He has a bright future in the hospitality biz for sure! The room was clean and nicely appointed. I wish they had a 'Smart TV ' in the room as many hotels do nowadays so we could enjoy streaming channels but you don 't go to Boston to sit in the room watch movies. There is a whole history of the former jailhouse located near the elevators which is very interesting. The restaurant(s) looked good but very pricey. We stopped in for dessert 1 evening with my family and it was $20 for an ice cream sundae...$16 just for a scoop of ice cream. Ridiculous...and I 'm from Los Angeles where prices are crazy. Great location on the top of Charles St.. The Red line subway is directly across from the hotel and you can walk down Charles St. to the Boston Commons and the Public Gardens or walk to the left down to Little Italy/North End where there are over a hundred restaurants/cafes/eateries in a 2 mile radius. We loved our meal at La Famiglia Giorgio and the hype for Mike 's Pastries (holy cannoli were those the best cannoli 's ever) lives up to it 's reputation. I also highly recommend the historic Union Oyster House (located near Faneuil Hall) for a step back in time.
