The Haven - Crossing

I’ve only been once to the old location and was sad that I didn’t know this was in JP the whole time That I lived here! Since then I’ve gone back to the new location?near sam adams which is Is an awesome spot with great drink selection and food! My recommendation is to get the scotch egg every time.

This place has been a favorite of mine for ages and always delivers. I lived in Scotland for four years so this is a great treat when I'm feeling nostalgic. The new bigger space is beautiful as well. Can't recommend this place highly enough. And yes, the burger genuinely lives up to the hype.

I got the Scotch Egg and the Shepard's Pie. Scotch Egg and the side salad was delicious and was my favorite part of the meal at $12 dollars. The salad was light and tasted great, being a nice counter foil to the fried Scotch Egg. The egg itself was well cooked and consistently breaded. The Shepard's Pie was hit or miss in some parts. The vegetables were well diced and consistent throughout. The mashed potatoes ran a bit thin and weren't thick unfortunately but the cheese on top gave me that extra texture and taste that was enough to distract me. There was not a great quantity of meat and I was expecting more for the $24 price tag. Service was okay. I waited a bit too long for my liking for my order to be taken but my server was nice and cheerful. I left content and full but wanted just a bit more from the experience.

The scotch egg was literally one egg with very little meat wrapped around it. For 12 dollars that is insane. The rest of the food was okay but expensive for what you got.

The Haven makes you feel like a regular. It's a great spot to have a pint or whiskey with your bros, or to take the family out to dinner. Authentic Scottish food with a warm ambiance this is a great destination in Jamaica Plain and one of my go-to spots in my neighborhood.
