Ammos - crete

Upon reading the menu, I was surprised to see that all the fish dishes were labeled as Vegetarian. We ordered vegan dishes, the classic options found in Greek restaurants (salad, beans, garlic bread), and made sure to confirm with the server that everything was vegan and without cheese. However, when the food arrived, there was melted cheese on the garlic bread. There weren't any more vegan options than in other taverns, and the service was average.

Previous review (July 2019): This restaurant offers a nice variety of vegan dishes, alongside beautiful views and friendly service. The salad was quite generous in size, and the vegan pizza was made with vegan cheese. An added perk was that if you spend over 5€ on food or drinks, you don't need to pay for the sunbeds. *Note: This review has been updated as of July 22, 2019 and August 18, 2021.

I discovered Ammos, the first café bar restaurant on the right as you enter Agia Galini beach, and was pleasantly surprised to see a sign advertising a vegan menu. In a town where most dishes contain cheese, it was refreshing to have vegan options available. We decided to try the pizza with vegan cheese, which was delivered promptly and was delicious with plenty of fresh toppings. The wrap also had a delectable sauce made from vegan cheese and was reasonably priced. Overall, we were very impressed and would definitely dine here again.

Already reading the surprise card to see that all fish-based dishes are indicated in vegetarian. you take vegan dishes, the classics of all Greek restaurants (salade, beans, garlic bread), while checking with the server that everything is vegan so without cheese. and at service, cheese melted on garlic bread no more vegan choice than in other taverns, and medium reception.

Update: august 2021 they have no vegan cheese anymore. I think the owners have changed and the menu therefore also. fish is tagged as vegetarian, the service is really bad (a young guy who enters all the time in his handy.) we ordered vegan garlic bread and it went with cheese. the pizza lacked any flavor, the grilled vegetables were somehow sweet due to the reduced balsamico. juli 2019 nice restaurant with a few vegan dresses. beautiful view and friendly service. the salad was quite large and the pizza is made with vegan cheese. if they order food or drink over 5€, they do not have to pay for sunbeds. updated by previous review on 2019-07-22 updated by previous review on 2021-08-18
