Really good chips last night, even after travelling home in the car. Judging by previous reviews, the fish is not to everyone's liking, but we loved it. It was a nice thick fresh tasting fillet in a light tempura batter. A great alternative to the shops that serve a tiny piece of fish with more fat soaked batter than fish. With so many fish and chip shops on PI, it is good to find one where the owner is passionate about sourcing the best local ingredients and cooking them the best way possible. Well done!
From what I have seen you do not soak your calamari it's tough as hell, soak in milk for 24 hours, then prepare it. Very salty chips also too salty and I like salt! Use different salt or less of it.... The batter itself was great the chips were nice but... Dam... Salty.
We searched for The Bug Fush and eventually found it upstairs above a Thai restaurant in a lane off the esplanade at Cowes. The guy who served us was very nice and said he could cook it in 5 mins. The fish was good, he gave us lemon too. We had a scallop, frueddprawns and flake.
Just had a few days in cowes and had the most fantastic fish and chips ever over looking the bay ended up eating fish and chips for the three days service and food quality excellent
