Panhandle Tex Mex Eatery & Bar - Cowes

We had always been curious about Panhandle so decided to go for a meal . Should have realised when we walked in that there was a few people at the bar but nobody eating.The food was ok ,ribs were a bit dry just another disappointing eateries on Phillip Island

Ok where to start. When wife and myself arrived we were not even acknowledge on arrival had to seat ourselfs. Waited 5 minutes to see someone when he arrived ask if we were ready to order. Ha we hadn't seen the menu. Foood was well Safe. I was hoping for some flavour but unfortunately was disappointed.

Upon arrival we were informed that they were trying to find more staff for the evening and there would be delays. Although it was a long weekend it seemed as if they were taken unaware by the number of people who wanted to eat out. I casually commented that we would take their staff problems into account and was surprised by the reply that I had no choice. That said the staff that were working clearly were trying hard to keep up and were mostly friendly.The decorations are a little over the top but they are clearly trying to create a fun atmosphere for a tex-mex restaurant.There were four of us dining but only one of our menus included the "regular specials" page.If we wanted to order a frozen margarita it was not possible to choose a flavour. The only option was whatever mixture was currently in the machine. We ordered the "green" ones, which tasted a little artificial but not horrible.The only very bit of the evening was my food. I ordered the burrito supreme (misspelled on the menu as burito) which I enjoyed. The meat was well cooked and had a rich sauce. Hubby's ribs were nice but a little dry.

Good service with wait staff happy to please. The food lacked spice of Mexican food so I felt a little let down. Limited menu

After a long day of visiting the island, the dinner at Panhandle Tex Mex "hit the spot". The establishment is over decorated with specific Mexican items, including sombrero hats. Excellent food, good portions, friendly and relaxing atmosphere, great service.
