Lone Pine Bistro - Cowes

Three days on Phillip Island and a very relaxing time, toured the island, saw some practice rounds on the Gran prix circuit, walked the beaches and saw the penguins, had a great meal at the RSL club, Lone Pine Bistro on our last day, a well run establishment and left nothing wanting in service or food, thanks.

Normally don't frequent clubs, but arrived back in Cowes after the penguin experience one cold and wet April nightTried the RSL for a quick dinner, very pleased with the extreme friendliness of the staff, the meal was very good for a club / normal hotel and good value for money

We wanted a reasonably priced, tasty meal at a venue where we could enjoy a good conversation. All of this was achieved at the RSL bistro. We were also impressed by the obvious pride taken in the appearance of the venue. Our only criticism was the over supply of meat on our plate - we had roast of the day. Too much meat for me or hubby, but every other part of the evening was just right.

We have been coming to the RSL for years when we get down to Phillip Island. The venue is well looked after and the service is great. Unfortunately the food is overpriced and average. $18 for fried chicken, and you get 4 mini drumsticks that are dry and unappealing. We were expecting more. The parma is $25 and was really average. If you are coming for a drink and to watch the footy, this place is good... otherwise spend your money else where

We enjoyed a really great meal last night. I had the rump and my partner had the chicken parma off the specials board. Big serves. What we loved the most was the friendly service, everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The floor staff, the cashier, the kitchen and bar staff all smiling and happy. Thank you very much.
