Today we had Sunday dinners that came for three of us to 100 pounds for two starters, three netzens, three puddings and three softdrinks. the prawn cocktail was the smallest part they can imagine, about ten tiny garnels with some salate. the Brat dinners were best moderate, the “rosa” bark was well made and when we asked this, we got a pretty shirt reaction from the waitress who told us that it was actually pink (it was not, it was brown.) the sweet was undercooked. in principle would not recommend for Sunday dinner and will not return!
Luke warm eating and very bad quality for the price, bad if not even scampi can get right. will not come back
Was so disappointed, place needs a good dust! the eating so poorly ordered a chicken salad it was drowned in ancholy, all by the test of the plate that was on the plate was huh tiny bits of speck and salat! to be honest. it was hard to like! rest of the food quite tasteless and so many other tables complained! was nice to sit outside, but apart from that will not be back in a hurry!
We waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for our food, watching people who had arrived after us eating, whilst our very patient children slowly the lost the plot. I had to ask where our food was twice before it appeared and was given the excuse...that they were very busy and that we were a large group (of 7, who had prebooked, so they had plenty of notice that we were coming). The excuses varied between, it takes longer to cook for 7, to the chefs didn’t have time to cook for seven, to restaurants always cook for smaller tables first, and we should have been told it was a 40 minute wait (but we waited double that). To be honest, none of the excuses made sense, and I would have appreciated and apology and “we forget” than the utter rubbish that came out of the managers mouth. We did receive a discount on the food, but a meal was wasted as one of the children was too tired to eat, and the adult meals went cold as we had to deal with some over tired and over hungry children. It’s a shame we have had this experience because we’ve always enjoyed eating at the Stables before but I doubt we will be back to Beamish Hall again as I can’t face a repeat of the slog that was lunch today.
Been here a few times before over the years. Just gets better and better. Staff friendly and enthusiastic. Great selection of drinks and the menu varied. We ordered the tagline which was made of lamb and apricots with a side of couscous. Flat bread chutney...snd yoghurt dip. I had belly pork with a spicy bean chorizo and bean sauce with ‘Canadian Potato’s. Both dishes were of a generous portion and well presented and totally delicious. This was followed up by rhubarb crumble with custard. By which time we were totally stuffed. Is it the cheapest. No but good value for money. Well worth the trip.
