After seeing the photo on line of the restaurant, you can imagine my surprise when we were guided to a table under a TV and in an area full of people who obviously had been to the gym or work, dressed mainly in track suits and trainers ... looking very casual and relaxed ... some quite vocal. Unfortunately, we were dressed for an occasion and felt rather out of place. It was only when we queried the photo to a member of staff that we were told there was another area at the side... which was the picture online and was what we were expecting rather than next to the bar. It was too late to ask to be moved as we had started our meal. It won't stop us coming again, but it would have been nice if we were given the option as to where we could sit ... maybe when I booked ... or told sports attire was the dress code ... not such a good look in your 70's.
We were happy to be seated without a reservation. The starters were good chicken skewers and crispy peking duck. The main courses were underwhelming for the price.
I had the noodles with prawns and it was completely tasteless with about 3 prawns. Very overpriced at £20! I've had better pot noodles.
No Asian restaurant worth their salt should be serving dim sum like this. Torn, thick underdone dumpling pastry and overpriced. I’ve spoken to staff about this the first time it happened. Yet weeks later nothing has changed. This poorly served dish cost over £10. When I spoke to staff about this it was shrugged off. Do better! The people of the north east deserve better than this. Demand better dim sum!!
Delicious food and welcoming, friendly staff. You'll definitely enjoy your meal here. The interior decor is fantastic as well.
