The breakfast at this restaurant was shocking. The sausage sandwiches were terrible and priced at £7. The bread was so thin that the contents kept falling out when I lifted the sandwiches. The poached eggs were sent back, as they were not cooked properly. There was not much tea or coffee available.
We stayed at The Fox Inn for two nights. Ate breakfast both mornings and it was vey good. Also ate dinner in the pub one night and it was good. The inn is owned by the same folks that own The Angel in Burford and share the chef. The service was a little on the slow side but figured it was just to short staff as they were not chatty with the customers like some of the other places on our 25 days vacation.
The location was fantastic, but unfortunately the weather was bad (raining) so we couldn't sit outside by the river. The food was also disappointing. I ordered the fish and chips, and my children had the kids' fish and chips and the fish finger sandwich. All three dishes were extremely greasy, to the point that we all felt sick later in the evening.
We booked for three days, the morning of the first day we were told there was a problem with a leak in the room. We.could smell something like sewage. However they made an effort to find an alternative. The landlord would not come to speak to us and would only communicate through the Assistance Manager who was so-embarrassed. However we found a place The 5Alls Filkins. There was no apologies, they took £20 off the one night which was£80. I would add I have tried to communicate with them but to no avail. My friend and I are in our 80.
