The roasted potatoes were a bit oily, but they were delicious and had just the right amount of crispiness. The portion sizes are quite generous. I would say this porchetta sandwich is just as good, if not better, than Roli Roti's in San Francisco. The service is outstanding, and you can really tell that the food is prepared with care by the family. Be sure to check their social media to see where they'll be located, and if you find them at SoCo on a Saturday, make sure to swing by for a mouth-watering porchetta sandwich.
The bf and I stumbled upon Parolli Rolli when we decided to check out the SoCo Farmers Market. This was my introduction to porchetta, and it is made to perfection!
UPDATE 2/21: Finally got to try the Porchetta. I 've had porchetta at several other places (Roli Roti in SF, Osteria Mozza in LA, Paninoteca Maggio in Santa Ana ... and this is good if not better than any of those in flavor and tenderness unfortunately my plate was cold. Not sure if that 's how it 's supposed to come. I waited about 12 15 mins for mine I assumed that it was because they needed to prepare a fresh off the rotisserie porchetta, so it was strange that it was basically cold. Taste: Very good, with a very good blend of herbs that don 't overpower the meat. Texture: Soft and tender loin meat, crispy skin just as it should be. Meat is juicy when you bite into it, and the fat is well rendered. Temperature: As above, cold. If it had been warm, it would have been phenomenal. I would love to try some right when it comes off the rotisserie. Presentation: Cleanly presented. I got the Paleo, which came served on a fresh bed of spinach and arugula and topped with their tangy green dressing. Final verdict based on food alone: 4 stars, would have been 5 if the meat were warm. UPDATE 2/1: Just got an email from Parolli rolli saying they had a family emergency .... So sorry to hear about that. I updated the review to 3 stars for now and will update it accordingly after eventually trying out the sandwiches for the first time, if I ever get a chance to. Hopefully they are 5 star sandwiches ORIGINAL POST: Said they 'd be back at soco today after not being here last week either ... Guess what NOT HERE again. No one answered the phone. No posting on their facebook page or anywhere. Parolli needs to be more organized if you 're a mobile food company with an inconsistent hours structure. This pertains to answering phone , posting a schedule or your whereabouts on social media, etc ....... otherwise business will begin to fail as you **** more customers off.
Oh the Porchetta sandwich...juicy porky goodness taunts you once you get a whiff of the smells that are coming from this little booth at the end of the Farmer's market. It is torture waiting for your sandwich and watching the others being made before you. Slowly slicing and dicing the roll of pork and adding that magical piece of crisp skin on top is just...if you were hungry when you ordered, you will turn into a ravenous savage once your food is presented to you. The chopped pork itself is juicy but wait, they add their own secret sauce on top of that as well as arugula, you know to make you feel healthy. A little cup of that sauce on the side as well, and you will end up drinking and then cleaning up every last drop that is in that cup, mind you. Definitely enough for 2 people if you pace yourself, and this sandwich on its chewy bread (I'll try the multigrain next time) is a masterpiece for the tastebuds with textures and spices all coming together perfectly. Oh yeah, those potatoes. Damn good! Don't let the looks fool you, they are delicious! Dip into the sauce...yummy. $12 was well spent as it easily fed the 3 of us.
Great guys and female family friend. talked to this trio for about 20 minutes at the Anaheim market two weeks ago. Took my sandwich to go and actually didn't eat it until a few hours later and then the other half the next day. The sandwich reheated in the over very well, so well in fact that I know a fresh one would be the best sandwich I have ever had! I definitely hope these guys become regulars.
