Al's New York Cafe - Costa Mesa

The #4 NYC Special was a total success! Everyone couldn't stop praising how delicious everything was. We decided to try this place on a whim, and it has definitely become our go-to pizza spot. The delivery was quick and hassle-free. It's honestly the best pizza and meatballs I've had in ages. So, so good! I’d give it a perfect 10 out of 10.

Finally, some good New York-style pizza in California! I really can’t stand it here, but this pizza makes it a bit more tolerable. If you're from New England and are debating whether to try it, just go for it. It's the closest you'll get to the real thing this far west!

This crust is just about perfect, thin, crisp bottom and guey top. Sauce to crust ratio was perfect; I prefer a little sweet in the sauce not my preference does not count. The only issue I had was the ratio of cheese to the other ingredients, too much cheese. However, what I plan on doing is visiting this restaurant and asking for 3/4 cheese, 1/2 cheese, etc. I believe that once I know how much cheese to say I want, this place will truly be a top 5 candidate for best west coast, hell, best NYC pizza period. Sorry Als, Im not being a jerk. Ive traveled 40 states and 10 countries in Europe on my pizza quest. Im actually giving you a HUGE compliment! Love you all!

The pizza is always fresh, hot, and cooked to perfection! The grilled chicken salad is excellent, loaded with fresh veggies and plenty of chicken. When you mix it with ranch vinaigrette, it becomes a perfect meal in a takeout container (just make sure to toss it properly in a salad bowl, of course)!

All 3 of us were disappointed with the eggplant parmigiana. Flat and tasteless. We couldnt help but wonder if this was due to a lower grade of parmigiana cheese used? Definitely no kick to the cheese.
