It was my first visit to the restaurant, and I have to wonder why my local friends kept it a secret for 20 years, especially since they know I enjoy older establishments with authentic cuisine. The bartender and waitress were both friendly and accommodating. I made sure to ask if the calamari was fresh, not frozen, and I also confirmed that it was lightly breaded and only lightly cooked, since I really can’t stand rubbery textures! It turned out to be delicious, paired with a tasty red sauce. The grilled salmon was also very good, accompanied by excellent spinach. I will definitely be returning!

A hidden gem in Central New York! Even though I live 45 minutes away, I find myself searching for reasons to return. Frank, the bartender—who goes by "Fortees"—was incredibly professional. The selection of top-shelf liquor was impressive, far exceeding what you find in 99.9% of the establishments in Syracuse. The food was simply outstanding. My sister-in-law, a chef herself, couldn't stop raving about it (and she’s quite particular). I only write reviews for either truly terrible or absolutely amazing experiences, and my wife believes this place deserves an 11 out of 10! Just a heads up: downtown Cortland is currently under construction, but you can find free parking behind the restaurant.
Avoid this place. The service was awful and the food was disappointing. My waitress messed up my order and then got into an argument with me about it over the level of doneness for my beef. It seemed like she was more focused on proving she was right than providing good service. She claimed, "I know exactly what you said!" She did offer to redo my order, but her attitude had already turned me off, and I just wanted to leave. There were also unexpected credit card fees, and it was clear she didn’t understand the difference between white wine sauce and cream sauce. She even thought steak tips were filet medallions. Overall, this restaurant is a complete joke. It seems to have transitioned from a Greek diner trying to be upscale, but they clearly do not have the right staff to make it work.
