Rifugio Pomedes - CORTINA D'AMPEZZO

As it is common in the French or Italian Alpes, the service is the main culprit. The food is generally good. The service is generally bad because there is always a lack of waiters (and they are probably underpaid). Hence customers, used to efficient service in Austria or Germany can feel at loss. I would not recommend this restaurant and would advise to go to the next one just below.

The best pasta dish I've ever tasted' beetroot gnocchi to die for with speck dumpling and ravioli. Followed by beef tenderloin and roasted vegetables cooked to perfection! Very friendly and accommodating staff ! All served with possibly one of the best views in Europe

Found the food very poor indeed. A sausage was brought to our table raw and was replaced after we flagged it without any real apology. My gnocchi probably came from the freezer with Findus written on the bag! Ragu was dry and sparse. All terribly disappointing in part of the world that is genuinely usually food heaven. I'd give it a miss honestly.

Rifugio Pomedes is located on the top of Pie Tofana. The location is very good and have a panoramic view over Cortina and the Cadore valey. You can also see the Marmolada mnt. Pomedes serves great food and have a friendly atmosphere.

I've been coming here for years and the view never gets old. It might be the most beautiful view that I have ever seen. The food is amazing and everyone is welcoming. The atmosphere is great and it is the perfect place to go for a skier or even a hiker during the summer.
