El Rinconcito - Corpus Christi

My Mother's Day lunch was not as good as expected, we had never had a bad experience until now. First we expected fresh salsa and chips, well instead we got an empty bowl and a bottle of salsa, (pour our own)and the chips tasted stale. I ordered a shrimp and oyster cocktail and a shrimp ceviche tostada. The oysters tasted irony and like they had been in the fridge for a while. The shrimp didn't taste freshly boiled either, but a bit mushy. Only halfway finished my meal, one I was so looking forward to because it was my pre Mother's Day present from my son. Began feeling ill as soon as I started walking out. I'm never ordering their cocktails or anything seafood again. My son ordered taquitos mexicanos, they were ok but the beans had no soup but dry. To top it off, there were two families that were so loud my son and I couldn't hear each other speak. I mean we don't mind conversation but as we say in Spanish, parece que los tenian encerrados.! And one family had kids running around without any type of restraint. Bad experience all around, when other times it's very pleasant, not today and it wasn't very busy either, waitresses we're too busy chatting with one of the families that was being loud. Not very professional, one customer waited about 10 minutes to pay his bill noone acknowledged him until another customer waiting for his order went to the bar and got someone to come to the register. Doesn't matter if customers are friends or family, they have other paying customers that deserve the best service they can give. I have been a manager for a Mexican restaurant and our waitresses always treated everyone equally.

I ordered the Parrillada Hot Plate : Beef, chicken fajitas BBQ pork sausage served w/ rice either charro or refried beans. I wasn't impressed all. The meats came 2 my table hot. The beef chicken fajitas tasted bland unseasoned dry. The fajitas were also tough, like beef jerky. The sausage was good. The refried in my case beans would have tasted better if it was hotter temperature wise . The rice actually came b 4 the meats. The beans rice came in luke warm, best, but I was on a time constraint, so I didn't send it back. U ask would I come here again ? NO ! ! ! !

I hadn’t been to this restaurant in many years so I was excited to go. My beef fajita was good but they forgot to bring the charro beans I ordered on the side. It took a while to get a waitress’ attention so I can let them know about the beans because they were busy being attentive with other customers. Our waitress was not attentive at all and never came back after she served our drinks, instead was attending other customers. Another waitress had to help us with the beans. The charro beans were mostly caldo, hardly any beans. My mom ordered a caldo de res and they did not take the time to cut the carrot. It was a big, whole, fat carrot in the bowl. Same thing with the cabbage, it was a huge piece dumped in there. My mom is elderly and we had to pretty much chop the veggies before she could eat the caldo. My main complain is the service and not so much the food, as the flavor was okay. The food also took forever to come. It would have been nice to have a warm welcome when we walked in and a friendly waitress to attend us. The waitress’ were only attending other people. Maybe the other customers were regulars and given more attention for that reason.

We are visiting from Houston and we ordered grilled shrimp and we got it all shriveled up with a bunch of lettuce and tomatoe no utensils or salad dressing . We asked for steam vegetables and we get a whole head of lettuce cut up and about 2 tomatoes . We will not be back to this place and no I did not eat any of that shrimp afraid of getting food poisoning. Or the dried lettuce and tomato.

Drinks were okay, service it was average, food was gross
