We have dined here three times. The first time was for Sunday lunch, where we were impressed by the generous portions of food, although we were not fans of the giant roast potatoes. The service was good. On weekday lunches, we enjoyed the food, but on both occasions we noticed that we were overcharged. The first time, after bringing it to the attention of the bartender, he initially insisted that the price was correct. It was only after I requested a receipt and a menu that he realized there was a mistake and refunded the extra charge. The second time, we were in a hurry and only realized afterwards. It is unclear whether the issue lies with their till or menu, or if a service charge is being added. Despite this, we still enjoy the pub and have returned for drinks, but we now pay close attention to the bill to avoid any further discrepancies. Overall, it is a shame as we love the place and believe it is worth a visit.
Went for Sunday lunch. Only one other couple. Roast beef like leather. We were here a year ago and the place was packed. What a shame.
Coming from a small village in East Sussex named Rotherfield, I remembered how the local pub, The George, was the heart of the community. The atmosphere at The White Hart reminded me of those times. The landlord, Ian, was incredibly friendly and we enjoyed chatting with the locals as if we were one of them. The food was delicious, and the cozy log fire added to the charm of the place. It felt like stepping back in time to a place where people gathered and socialized. Ian and Katy, you have created a wonderful establishment. My only wish is that I could live there! Best wishes, Dave the plasterer.
We cannot sing enough praises for Ian, Katy, and their staff at this charming rural pub. Stumbling upon Chilsworthy by chance turned out to be a stroke of luck for us. Located in the heart of the village, the amazing work these people are doing for their community truly deserves more recognition than I can express. We arrived with our son, Josh, his girlfriend Ella, and our two dogs, not knowing anyone. However, we were greeted warmly and made to feel like we belonged. Ian and Katy are gracious hosts who have faced numerous challenges in recent years, yet they continue to dedicate themselves to their village wholeheartedly. The pub is lovely, the views are breathtaking, and the atmosphere is just incredible. After just one week, we leave with new friends in our hosts. A visit to this place is a must for anyone in the area. You will not be disappointed. - Darren and Rachael.
Booked before we went as we were a group of 8 including 2 children. As it was Sunday we had mainly Sunday roasts, a couple had the vegetarian pie, the children had pizza and a small roast. The portions were huge, the vegetables kept coming and coming. You definitely wouldn't go home hungry after eating, it was delicious. Its a bit of the beaten track down some narrow lanes but it's well worth the drive for the views while you eat. We'll definitely visit again if we are in the area.
