The restaurant is large and airy but doesn’t lend itself to creating atmosphere/ambience, particularly in the dark evenings without the view. The menu is very limited and not super imaginative. I guess burgers and pizzas are necessary to appeal to the cross section of people that stay and therefore eat here. The popcorn prawns were not exciting but my my Brie croquette special was quite good if not particularly exceptional. However, my catch of the day dish was really tasty (pollock) and all they need to do is offer a few more “fresh specials”. My fiancée had cod and chips which was also pretty good. At dinner and breakfast alike, all this restaurant has to do is offer a few more fresh dishes and use some more local produce (breakfast included) and it could be a lot better.
We always begin our holiday at Tregenna with Sunday night supper at Godrevy View Brasserie, and once again it did not disappoint. The roast dinner was a favorite among our family, with generous portions, huge Yorkshire puddings, and a variety of vegetables. My fish dish was also deliciously prepared. For dessert, we couldn't resist the sticky toffee puddings with clotted cream, which were superb. The staff were accommodating to our family group, especially with a baby in a high chair, and the service was friendly and cheerful.
After a long journey, we had dinner at the Godrevy View restaurant at Tregenna. The restaurant has been renovated in recent years and is now much less cafeteria-style than the old Carvery in the Trelawney Room. The food is very good and reasonably priced. The chef still excels at making huge Yorkshire puddings for the roast, which half of our family chose. The sea bass main dish was generous and delicious. We were so full that we didn't have room for dessert, even though the choices looked tempting.
I was very disappointed with the meal at this restaurant that claims to offer high-quality food. My family and I had a Sunday Roast and were not impressed. The food was lukewarm, the cauliflower cheese was overcooked and the rest of the meal was average at best. The desserts were also lacking. Overall, it was a letdown. They need to pay more attention to the quality of their dishes if they want to live up to their reputation. I didn't complain at the time to avoid ruining the gathering for my family.
Stayed in this castle hotel and everything was great. Service was good with great wine choice. Typical english menu which was very tasty
