Walked over from Mevagissey for the second time this holiday. Very Covid19 secure and yet maintains a lovely ambience. Sharon the host works tirelessly to provide great drinks and service in these challenging times. For the second time also locals gave up seats to visitors to enable everyone to have a drink here. It's a credit to the management and locals that us tourists are made so welcome. Thank you! Amongst the Ales available were Tribute, Atlantic and Doom Bar. Other refreshments were available and no doubt as exceptionally presented. Unable to try the food offer but I'd expect it to be as good as everything else here. Enjoy!
Pub was not opened to sit in,but you could drink outside looking directly across the harbour. A real friendly landlady nothing was to much trouble for her, well worth a visit to drink outside and watch the waves splash up the harbour walls
Visited this on basis of reviews as being a pub of character in good location. Little dissapointed with no car parking (that I could see) and generally looks a little run down from outside, Menu was outside on wall no menu to view inside. Landlady kept sayin basket meals on Saturday as if that should mean something but this is not a term I recognise but accepted limited choice as Saturday lunch. Food OK but not brilliant. Table service from person cooking food in the kitchen a little odd. Brought out cuttlery in a container and put int on a neighbouring table even though the people said the food order was not theirs. Then meals were kind of dropped on the table. Basket a fake plastic affair. Difficult to eat from please just use a plate! Coffee from a kettle rather than a machine and landlady put suger and milk in. None of this is massively problematic but it all just gives an impression of everything being a little too much trouble. But the big one for me was that in winter you need to put on some heating. There was a wood burner but not on. No visible other form of heating. In winter I expect a pub to be a comfortable place with atmosphere. I am afraid we just ate and left asap. A shame. I suggest the staff take a trip to The Pandora Inn near St Mawes which also has a great location but shows how it should be done. Also take note on decor people expect a higher standard these days. I hope that it gets better as a great position but that is not enough when paying decent money for food.
We stopped here for a drink whilst walking from Mevagissey and ended up staying for several. Its a very welcoming place and the drinks were reasonably priced.
