Unfortunately I was embarrassed with exceptionally bad service and overpriced eating, fowey hall as an example of what cornwall can offer to our visitors. when we noticed our obvious disregard and heard our mourning, we received a 10% discount. this was not what we were looking for and would have a stress-free evening very preferred. all said, the children enjoyed their burger and the playroom.
Three ladies went to the afternoon tea this afternoon. it began to promise that the young man took our order, was very pleasant and professional. the food came there there was a beautiful series of sandwiches, cakes and scones. we all tucked happy and enjoy the view. that it was .end of the service, no employee came near us for the rest of our visit. not even to check if we were in order or want more hot drinks. very disappointed about the lack of customer service . in consideration of the cost, plus 12.5 service fee .... I will not return.
My wife and I had a delicious dinner here. I have dropped the last negative reviews on the way in and my heart. we almost turned around to find a pub. I'm so glad we didn't. the Valentine menu was excellent. each cure had the boil. balanced textures and aromas perfect. a comment below is that the employees do not know their weeping. maybe not, but there are restaurants in cornwall where they pay an additional £30/head for this service and there is an extensive wine menu to choose from. we were in the igloos and the staff must be out at all weathers to serve them, and come out and out of the zipper doors. it is a feat that eating came hot at all, what it did. They were attentive and polite. I can imagine in the daylight that the excavators and works are unsightly. we were there at night and only saw the two-socked lights over the mouth. the house itself is quite large with a beautiful work of art and a rich history. the igloos are a clever idea. they are heated and there are covered. in the position to sit ‘outside’ on a windy februar is a beautiful experience in the U.K we were comfortable, but I work advice to bring a cloth or a jacket at cool weather. a reviewer complains the igloos are quiet, without music. it's true. but who has no playlist on her handy? we sit down calmly to not disturb others and it created a fine ambiente. we will come back in summer when the expansion work is completed. I give 5 stars to counteract some of the excessively hard reviews.
Extremely disappointed! Many errors from the start. The reservation wasn't booked in on my first attempt, I called the day before to check to find that out. Lucky there was space to have it booked in properly. Then there was a few issues with their...gift voucher system not accepting my the voucher I bought! Being told to allocate it when I didn't buy it from a third party but directly from their own website. was a bad experience from the drive way in and lasted all the way through to the end. We was not told at any point that there is a vast amount of building going on spoiling every view! Huge diggers, barriers the lot Everywhere. We were in the outside dome with front row seats to this mess, spoiled it as when booking I stated it was a birthday treat for my daughter. Angry is an understatement. Considering being in an outside dome on the terrace you would expect to be told that the view is of a building site. OK, so now the dome itself. Well not pleasant, dirty specs on cutlery was a mood killer followed by very dusty blankets that's draped over the back. Clearly not changed! Huge table decorations you need to move out the way otherwise can't see who your dinning with, candle not lit with candle wax everywhere and wilted flowers, not very nice to look at. Loads of mugs left on table, table is set with cups, They were left clogging up more space. The scones were so over baked that when I attempted to pick one up with my fingers it crumbled all over the table!! When mentioned to staff no replacement offered. Tea pots are useless, while trying to drink my tea I had to spit back out I had a mouth of tea leaves! When we wanted another drink we had to go look for someone, no one came and checked or was around at all. The Americano came out half full too. Lucky we had a sense of humour otherwise prob would have walked out by this point! The bread in the finger sandwich was stale and bland. The mushroom and black garlic tarte has no garlic. You could tap the tarte on the plate it was that solid. Come on its simple cheap food for £27 per person plus a 12.5% service charge. We are a local family 10mins away won't be returning. Much better places out there for less money and far better views
Booked afternoon tea as anniversary treat fir my wife and myself. Pleasant setting lovely room...but was unfortunately cold. Initial service was ok..although took a little while which was suprising as were the only people inside. After a short while afternoon tea arrived. The sandwiches which...although being pleasant had obviously been made sometime previously as were dry. The cakes also had been served up some time previously and left in a chiller as the ginger cake was dry and rubbery with hard cold cream on top. The choux bun was soggy with the consistancy of something fried. Also on the menu it says limitless hot drinks....that only works if a waiter returns to the room...or you can find one when you look. All in all a very expensive treat for a very mediocre dining experience...gad much better food and service at much more modest establishments.
