We decided to take them back for a refund, which was given to us. However, we could see we were given old ones and the fresh ones were at the front - more fool us for not looking more carefully and noticing the lack of dusted icing on the ones we bought as opposed to the fresh ones. But in the end, Dough Fusion should not be selling yesterdays stock as fresh and charging full price for them. It's been several years since we bought anything there and my mother just happened to try a taste test when walking past the other day - she liked the taster and today she had this experience. So Dough Fusion, was selling old stock worth losing two customers?
Buy the bread here always Their family meat pies are the best and I don't do meat but these get your taste buds going! Love the atmosphere here at Coolum Real Aussie holiday
Just when I thought it was getting better and tried it again than it was back to the very ordinary - lost the crisp pastry from last time and filling was just ordinary.
We purchased three hot meat pies for lunch on Friday, from Dough Fusion at Birtwill Street, Coolum Beach. We had heard that this bakery café had changed owners a few months ago (after many years), so were not sure what to expect. Maybe some other "Trip Advisors" could confirm this. As soon as we walked up to the counter, a young female staff member immediately greeted us and offered us assistance. She was very pleasant and helpful during the entire transaction and wished us a happy day as we left. Our pies were fine, not the best we have ever had but certainly not the worst either. We have been customers of Dough Fusion many times over many years and they used to have amazing "Satay Chicken Pies", but they don't seem to have them anymore which is a pity. Their prices have gone up quite a bit over the years and are probably now a bit on the "too expensive" side but apart from that, it was all good. There could be a bit more dining room as there are just a couple of tables on a busy footpath on the way to the Coles supermarket next door. It is not very private or personal.
Cant say much about cakes and coffee, but we did get a decent pie here. Had the steak n mushroom which had the thin and crisp crust and good filling. Would go back for another. My wife had the pastie, which was ok but not spectactular. They were exy though at 5 bucks each
