My only criticism is on Monday night when the Schooner and Burger special is available, I did ask if we might be able to enjoy our beer before having the burger. I was initially told that the burgers had to be cooked and would be a while, so should not be a problem. After ordering and getting our beer, I think I had 2 or 3 sips and the burgers came to the table. Not happy!! Not only that, but the burgers were barely warm, so not just cooked, but must have been sitting in a warmer for a while. The meal was not very nice being so cold and the beer, well, just left that to be chucked out. Personally, i would like to be given a voucher for the meal as well as the beer, then we can order to our pleasure. Not everyone likes the beer and burger together. Club has a nice atmosphere, very popular, but needs a little tweak with ordering.
Love the surf club. You can always get a good table. Get membership as it pays for itself on the first visit. Only thing to avoid is a pizza with pre made base.
Rocked up to Surf Club on Friday night without a booking and we were lucky to be seated straight away. The bistro was crowded and we ordered the prawn and bug linguini which was generous in its portions and included 3x 0.5 bugs and was delicious. We also ordered the Fisherman’s basket which came with chunky chips which were nice and crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside and a side salad. The wait staff were friendly and overall it was a good experience and would recommend it. Next time I’d like to try the NT barramundi instead of Fisherman’s basket and go for lunch to enjoy the great views.
We have been reviewing surf clubs alaong the coast, just for fun. Cooly has a great view, service was good, so were the drinks…. But the meal was terrible, 2 different entrees, 2 different mains, all were horrible, no taste, overcooked very small piece of barramundi, dried out tasteless brisket, zero flavour prawn tart served with brown avocado, crumbed Camembert that was thin, dry and tasteless and yesterday’s or maybe last week’s vegetables. Won’t go back. What happened?? a few years ago the food was good!
Always enjoy my visit to the Coolangatta surf club on holidays. The food is mixed but if you pick the right choice its sublime. I had the beef brisket and indeed it was spectacular . I think the price was a mistake at $28 as other more expensive local restaurants had charged far far more for steak which didnt match the Coolangatta brisket. The beers are cold and a good selection always a plus . Efficient and friendly staff with many local surf club members working there. Highly recommended
