Spankies - Cookeville

Spankies is an excellent spot for Texas Tech University students, rich in tradition. The food is fantastic, and the service is exceptional. If you visit for lunch, make sure to try the cheese bread—it's irresistibly delicious!

It's our first time visiting the really cool college town of Cookeville, Tennessee and our first time at Spankies tonight, and I must say that the food was absolutely the best food EVER, and our waitress, Lakeland, was absolutely AWESOME!!!!! She took such great care of us! She's definitely THE BEST!!!!! Sandi had Mushroom, Spinach, and Chicken Manicotti in white wine and Asiago cheese sauce while I had a Chicken Quesadilla platter. I have had many Quesadillas in my life from Mexican restaurants, but none have ever been as perfect as the Quesadillas I had tonight! Our appetizer tonight was Queso and chips, and dessert was Salted Caramel Cheesecake! DELICIOUS!!!!! We just cannot say enough about the food, or the service at Spankies! We highly recommend this AMAZING restaurant, and our waitress, Lakeland!!!!! ~Lee Sandi

A nice local place that everyone should try. The chicken on a stix is phenomenal, as are the roasted potatoes. The garlic bread also a fantastic flavor. The lunch setup is a little weird, and the guy at the counter could've been friendlier. I will be visiting again though.

My mom loves this restaurant, and I always assumed it was a barbecue place based on her food preferences. However, it turned out to be the closest thing to a fancy dining experience I've ever had. I ordered the shrimp and scallops, and it was absolutely delicious! I can't even replicate that flavor at home. The presentation of the dish looked a bit unusual at first, but once I took a bite, I was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic taste. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that I ordered a drink I wasn’t familiar with, and it turned out to be quite strong. I had to add pineapple juice to make it more palatable. Our waitress was amazing, and I regret not getting her name. I'll definitely be coming back for a date night soon!

I was searching for the authentic flavor of Cookeville, and I definitely found it here. The restaurant has a charming dive bar vibe, combined with a welcoming local atmosphere. The bar area is really cool, and both the prices and the staff are fantastic.
