Vernon's Kuntry Katfish - Conroe

Let's start with the positive aspects. The staff is fantastic and friendly, and the restaurant's decor is impressive. However, the food left much to be desired. The fried green tomatoes were only lightly battered in the center and lacked flavor, making the accompanying ranch dressing necessary. While the portions of catfish were generous, it was overcooked, and the cornmeal batter was bland and unseasoned. The green beans tasted canned, with barely a hint of bacon. The mashed potatoes were passable but also needed more seasoning. The chicken fried steak was served immediately after frying without any resting time, resulting in a soggy texture with each bite due to the gravy. Overall, we appreciated the staff and atmosphere, but the food did not meet our expectations.

I absolutely love the catfish at this place! The atmosphere is fantastic, and the staff is really friendly.

Went there for lunch had their smoked chicken it was unbelievable The turnip greens and lima beans were just as good.
