This was my first time here, and my friends second time. We sat outside, it was gorgeous weather. We both tried the Pumpkin Apple Bisque. It was not the soup for us, overpowering curry a grainy texture. We shared the pretzels- super yummy! The salt comes off easily, so if you're counting sodium (like me! You can easily remove almost all of it. We also split the turkey sandwich with cranberry mayo french fries. The sandwich bread was a bit crusty and it was an okay sandwich. Mostly bland to us even with the mayo. The turkey, lettuce and tomato were super fresh as the photo shows. The fries were good, and probably would be great served hot. Their pickles are huge, which is always a bonus to me. I would probably try them again sometime, their pizzas looked amazing as they served other customers.
Barley house had excellent food. The pumpkin and apple bisque was one of the best soups I have had. The lobster blt and fish and chips were both great as is their beer selection. Definitely a place to visit when you are in town. Finally, the service was great.
This is a big restaurant with a big dining room with a lot of booths and tables. They also have a large outdoor patio. The food was good and the service was prompt and polite.
After having a taste of the Pumpkin apple bisque, I decided to review this place. Rick was our bartender and I appreciated his service greatly. He was perfectly attentive while we had lunch at the bar exactly as it opened. The beer was cold and they have a limited but nice selection of draft. The blarney puffs were pretty good, the cheese sauce was definitely the highlight as I wasn't a huge fan of the pastry dough but liked the potato filling. We shared the chicken pot pie which had decent flavor and the cracker type pastry on top was ok. If it had risen and wasn't so tough I would give it 5 stars. The creme brulee was basic, needed a garnish of berries or something for flare. The Pumpkin Apple Bisque, with it's hints of curry in my opinion is a reason to go back again without a doubt ! If they offered it in a larger portion with some bread... 5 stars.
