I was on my way home from running errands and decided since I lived 30+ years in Seattle, and very much miss having seafood, I thought I'd give Russell's a try. The staff greeted me as I walked in and were attentive to my questions about to-go. I ordered from their good size menu, just 2 pieces of grilled catfish. That excited me, because so much here is coated in cornmeal and I just wanted fish. Mine was fresh grilled, very flavorful, but a bit too salty for me...but that didn't stop me wolfing it down as I drove home. I wish I'd have gotten a couple more pieces, because I'm used to hefty catfish and these fillets were about the size of talapia. The server also offered to top off my drink beforebI left, which was a bonus. It was all around a pleasant experience with good food and I will definitely be back!
Fish was ok. Fries were good. Pinto beans were out of a can. Coleslaw had no flavor. Service left a lot to be desired. Cook walked out while we were there. Very little help out front.
The food was wonderful. It all had great flavor. I normally do not eat hush puppies, they were great. I had the #1 fish plate with beans, fries, Cole slaw and hush puppies, My husband had the #4 fried shrimp over rice, with beans, and Cole slaw, and a gator sausage. The customer service was also great. The young man opened the door for us. Our waiter asked us what we would like to drink as he seated us. Then our order was taken as soon as we had decided what we wanted. The servers came by regularly to see if we needed anything, and to see if everything was good. But I have to say it was better than good it was great. We plan on eating there regularly.
Our first time here. We had the shrimp and fish combo. Plenty of food for both of us and it was excellent. Shrimp is a nice size, I got the fried, it was lightly breaded, fresh out of the fryer. Hush puppies were excellent, not greasy, has corn inside the fluffy moist ball. My husband is a picky fried fish eater and he gave it a thumbs up! The Cole slaw was pretty good, I'm not a big slaw eater. The red beans were wonderful. The food was on a bed of Cajun rice which was very tasty. Everything is cooked up fresh so we didn't mind waiting 15 minutes for our order. We have a new favorite restaurant!
