Jack's Place - Colusa

My husband and I had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while before actually making our way to Colusa. The advertisement made it look like a cool place to try. We had a Friday evening (7:30) reservation, and the place was nearly empty. We opted to get drinks and an appetizer before ordering dinner. Drinks were okay (margarita and a lemon drop) but the appetizer platter was not good. The best thing we tasted was the complimentary biscuits. We decided against ordering dinner based on the appetizer. Bummer.

We 've been coming to Jack 's Place at Colusa Casino for years, and they have decent food. The service is not very consistent though, sometimes great and sometimes not good at all. During this recent visit we enjoyed our meals and experience..sadly, there are no other sit down restaurants to eat at this casino. I wish they would have replaced the buffet, steakhouse, and Branded Butcher with another restaurant instead of just changing the menu in Jack 's Place. Hopefully that is in the future plans...Anyways, the new menu is ok they took away customer favorites like the pot roast, but luckily added some good items like the Pork Osso Buco, which my father in law really enjoyed. I had the fish chips and the fish was light and flakey, but the batter was a bit on the greasy side. They coleslaw was terrible, and the French fries were perfectly salted and crisp! My brother in law had the foot long chili dog...it looked unappetizing to me, but he likes it. The inside of this eatery is a typical bar/grill with a tables and half booths, and usually a game playing on the big TVs. They used to have like music on the little stage in there, I 'm not sure if they still do. They keep the dining area clean.

Service was not good. We were never asked about drinks, slow to the table, waitress never checked on us once food was brought out. When food was brought out I ordered a margarita, it showed up after I paid the bill and it tasted like it was mixed with toilet water. The food was good but not worth.

My party of three arrived 7:15 pm for a 7:30 reservation. We were told there would be a 20 min wait. Hostess looked our way as we sat at the non smoking casino area(adjacent to the hostess podium) several times. I saw many white people get seated right away without a reservation. I went up to the hostess for an update at 8 pm and she responded with, oh, your reservation was a while ago! We sat down at about 8:05 pm. No one acknowledged us for 20 mins. We walked out. Worst service ever. The hostess had no knowledge of the menu or any type of customer service skills. We drive to Casa Ramos in Willows instead where we were sat down immediately and served promptly. Go to Casa Ramos or 5th Street Steakhouse instead. Spend your money at places that value you as a customer.
