Who would have thought that enjoying a few drinks by the water would result in a £160 FINE months later? The pub staff seem indifferent to their patrons' concerns. In my opinion, simply purchasing a parking ticket should be enough to satisfy any duty of care the establishment has toward its customers. But no, there was no communication about this issue—only a reminder of how much I owe for the drinks. I've seen several negative reviews that echo this same frustration. Letters were sent to my old address, which feels like extortion. We will not be returning, and I urge others to stay away!
The King’s Head Hotel uses Britannia Parking for their parking management, and I later received the fine notice sent to my old address because the DVLA hadn’t updated their records. I accidentally discovered the fine only in October when I checked my old mail, and by then, I had already missed the exorbitant early repayment fee of £100 and was forced to pay an outrageous £160.00 to avoid court action from their legal firm, BW Legal. The legal company was unhelpful and refused to accept any information I provided, offering no way to dispute the charge. When I visited The King’s Head Hotel, I paid in cash and unfortunately discarded the receipt and parking ticket, thinking I wouldn’t need them given that I hadn’t received any fine notice until two months later. With little evidence, my only option was to return in person to explain the situation again. The bartender asked for my PCN number and promised to resolve it. However, nothing changed. I later followed up with the manager, who also assured me he would take care of it and follow up via email, but I never received a response. I had no choice but to pay the £160 just before Christmas to avoid court. I will never dine or park here again and will make it my mission to share this experience through word of mouth and social media to warn others. I have lost all trust in The King's Head Pub. The fine is completely unreasonable; I feel ripped off and unsupported! Their lack of understanding and help has left me horrified.
A perfectly decent and welcoming pub. We chose this place because it was close to where we had docked our boat, and they kindly accommodated our party of eight, addressing our dietary needs without any hassle. The food was well prepared, and while a couple of the dishes were a bit greasy, everyone enjoyed their meal thoroughly. I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit, but I wouldn’t mind stopping by again.
The room was very comfortable, featuring a spacious en-suite bathroom. The supply of tea and coffee was more than sufficient, and the kettle was a nice touch. The TV also offered a fantastic selection of channels. As an EE mobile customer, I experienced some issues with reception inside the property, but it was fine once I stepped outside, especially on the green side. The room was cleaned daily, and breakfast was made to order. The staff and owner were warm and welcoming. Overall, it was very affordable. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
Absolutely fantastic dining experience! I can't recommend it highly enough. The food is amazing, and the service is incredibly friendly. I could write more, but I won't—just try it, and you won't be disappointed!
