Osteria Antica Fontana

Our hotel front desk clerk recommended this place and she was right to do so. We actually arrived before the kitchen opened which was no problem. Our waitress took time to explain almost the entire menu. Both the steak and the grilled fish were perfect. Would most definitely visit here again!

What a surprise! arriving in a somewhat simple if not sleazy district in the north of Milan, we stopped to find something to eat and noticed the enoteca over the road; passing through the doors we emerged to our great surprise in an interior courtyard with tables covered by umbrellas and plants everywhere. On asking whether we could eat and bring in our dog, we were treated to a warm welcome and a long discussion on dogs! I had never realised that the Italians rivalled the English in their passion for dogs; during the conversation the table filled up with cold meats, salads, lasagne, grilled cheeses and WINE; excellent wine from the region and simple but oh so fresh fare. A meal long to be remembered and for 3 people only 75 euros.

Such a lovely local restaurant with such a quaint family feel. We don't speak Italian and our waiter did not speak very good English, but we found way to communicate and the end result was the best pizza we had during our entire visit. This lovely restaurant was recommended by the staff at our hotel and we are so glad they gave us the recommendation. It was so good we went back twice. Fabulous pizza and the house specialty that was a seafood pasta in a skillet type dish was amazing. I think they called it the Antica Fontana. Such a family feel, we met others dining in the restaurant and all made us feel like family. We will definitely go back. I guess you can tell by all of the reviews in Italian that this restaurant is also a favorite of the local clientele. That counts!!!!
