Golden Fish and Chips - Collingwood

This is the second visit in as many years. The pricing is fair, food is not bad, service was good. I was going to sit inside, but the air circulation is poor, hence smell the grease. Sat outside. Would go back again. This is not one of those foodie places that you discover in the back alley. It is a regular fish and chips place, nothing fancy, nor a greasy spoon either, albeit the lack of air circulation.

Portions are fine, chips were fine, had cod and haddock both good, crispy not overdone in batter, take-out (only) price is right. lost a point because ran out of cole slaw. 3 parking spaces.

This is strictly a take out place, and I wasn't very impressed with the decor - not dirty, exactly, but certainly run down. They were VERY busy though, so my opinion must be outside the norm. Personally, I found the breading to be a bit heavy and greasy. Also, I know it is tradition to wrap fish & chips in newsprint in the UK, but here the ink from the paper smells awful to me... My favourite place for fish and chips is Sizzlin in Meaford, with Fish 'n Sips next in line.

We get Fish and Chips there every few weeks. Know others who do the same. Large portions. Great food at a reasonable price. Wish they would add shrimp and chips to the menu. Take out only, very limited parking.

Went here for lunch last week. Had the normal size Halibut & Chips - it was a huge portion for only about $11 or $12. Next time I might try the snack size as there was a lot leftover from the regular size. Crisp batter, tasty fish with excellent texture. Have been telling everyone I know who works or lives in Collingwood about this place - was excited to have found it.
