Union Roasters • Coffee • Waffles

The coffee at Union roasters was delicious and definitely the best in Coeur d'Alene that I had the opportunity to try during my visit. It was clear they take time to produce a great cup of coffee, and I got to watch an employee dialing in a new bean in the background while I got my latte.

GREAT DRIVE THRU EXPERIENCE WAFFLES!!! I ordered their Strawberry Lemon Waffle (btw it was incredible in their drive thru. For those who don’t know, it is an item that takes a bit longer to prep bc they make it fresh. The employee was so kind in letting me still order this even though it was a particularly busy day. She just had me pull forward after I received my coffee, paid, and when it was ready she walked it out to my vehicle. She could have EASILY just said, “no we don’t take waffle orders through the drive thru” and that would have been okay!! But she they went the extra mile and walked it out to my car. Btw- if you haven’t had a waffle, get one. They are a little pricier so I only get one as a “special treat” but they are SO WORTH IT. I enjoy the coffee, not my favorite in the area by any means but I find this to be a preference thing that people are kinda split 50/50 on. Try it for yourself and make your own decision:

Cute atmosphere. Good coffee I don't enjoy the waffles. I'm not sure what style of batter they are using, but I find them oddly sweet and not a great texture. I was excited for a savory option, but it turns out the bacon waffles are standard waffles with hyper sweet bacon syrup on top. I couldn't finish it. Would love if there was a sourdough or buttermilk batter option and some savory choices that are stirred into the batter cheese, bacon, etc.

Completely disorganized crew, total chaos. Drink after drink is getting screwed up. They don’t write on cups and have no way of tracking what’s what. We ordered two drip coffees because they are so deep inside in the weeds, and after waiting a few minutes were informed that both of the drip coffees were empty, and they needed to brew more. Total joke. Will not be back.

If you like sitting in wide open bright white sanitized boxes, this is your place. The coffee is good pastries are far better than anywhere else around, but the place itself feels so sterile white, it's uncomfortable. On the plus side, you can go across the street and there is a Taco truck, so you could just sit outside to avoid the sanitized bright white box feel.
