Embleton - Cockermouth

The hotel is very dog-friendly, with stunning views and a convenient location near charming towns and lovely lakes. They are also accommodating when it comes to dietary needs, and the food itself is fantastic—authentic homemade dishes. One evening, we shared a tomahawk steak (which you need to pre-order two days in advance), and the chef personally served it to us. The meals are superb and sourced locally. Overall, this has been the best hotel experience we’ve had in the UK. Thank you! As for nearby activities, Keswick is a delightful town to explore, and Derwentwater is just a 15-minute drive away. You can take a hop-on/hop-off boat ride around the picturesque lake, which lets you stop at pubs and enjoy some drinks. There are also nearby waterfalls and walking trails. The boat ride operates all day, and well-behaved dogs are welcome onboard for free.

We had a wonderful stay here during our trip to the Lake District. The hotel is situated just a short distance from Bassenthwaite Lake and conveniently close to both Keswick and Cockermouth if you’re interested in exploring local towns and shops. The staff were incredibly friendly and eager to assist. Overall, we rated our experience as follows: Rooms: 4, Service: 5, Location: 5.

The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was both busy and serene, partly due to the regular attendees of the swimming lessons. The food was outstanding, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that our room was a suite. Although parking might be a challenge, I’m confident the staff would assist in handling it. Highly recommended!
