Oasis Bar & Grill - Cobourg

We enjoyed the patio. They have an outside bar. The food was good not fabulous but we still had a very nice time. We did go back.

This used to be an icon in Cobourg and we have been there many times. However. Things are definitely slipping. The decor is dingy and every surface I touched was sticky and dirty. Our server was border line incompetent. She messed up our drink orders. Then messed up our food orders. Then messed up the bill! The food wasn't good. So disappointing. A blt on wilty white bread. A scrape of bacon and cold fries. My friends chicken wrap was soggy right thru the soft shell wrap. My other friend had wings and she said they were really good. So 1 out of 3 I guess! Honestly. We won't go back. It's too bad. It used to be such a good place. :(

The first, second and third times I went to Oasis, we were treated to a lovely meal in a lovely, unique restaurant that took pride in its food and its reputation. I'm not sure what changed but it's definitely not very reliable any more. The staffing is often skeletal and the meals can be pretty hit or miss. I love it when they "hit" though... The place could use a thorough cleaning and the staff could use a bit more cheering up and maybe support? The ambience can still be magical if you're lucky.

Cute place with lovely patio and home cooked food. Nightly specials at reasonable prices and attentive service.

I was visiting my mom in Cobourg on Thursday July 27th and we decided to go out to eat and I invited some old friends from high school to join us as I don't come " home" very often. We got to the Oasis at 7pm and we're seated on the patio near the bar. A tall blondish woman introduced herself and took our drink order and disappeared she came back in about 10 minutes with our first drinks and asked if we were ready to order in which we did so now it was about 7:20pm. So we drank our drink and she returned at 7:40 and asked if we would like another drink and we did so I asked her about our meal and she said she would check on it. She came back around 8pm so I asked if we would be getting a discount on anything as the service was slow and other tables were coming and going. She said she would ask the manager so we ordered another drink. She came back at 8:15 with our drinks and still no food so I asked her again if we would be getting some kind of discount and she yelled at me and said they were very busy and I was embarrassing her and that I was very rude. People all around us could hear this and as I politely tried to explain that I was asking because she had not said anything from the first time I asked she yelled again and said I was extremely rude. At that point I wanted to leave and so did our table as it was getting dark and the bugs were coming out. By this time it was 8:45 and our food came out and she basically slammed my plate down. We all ate and around 9:10 she asked if we wanted dessert which a couple of us did and now we're the only ones left in the dark on the patio and we were done at 9:30. In the end she was ignoring me and when my mom paid she couldn't see the check but paid $147.07 plus my friends left a tip which I thought they shouldn't have and the waitress kept moms copy of the bill which mom didn't realize until we got home so we don't know if we got any discount. Unfortunately I should have called the manager but was leaving the next day for my journey home. I would never ever recommend this restaurant and I truly hope they get rid of that waitress before she ruins another persons "happy night out" as mine was totally ruined by her.
