I lived in Texas, so I know a good taco and it's so hard to compare especially up north. I can make them myself but sometimes it's good to be served A1 when you don't feel like cooking. But sometimes I believe it's worth cooking it yourself especially when you learned your technique from the border. It's definitely authentic. Unlike up north.I personally want authentic not Americanized Mexican food and that for all Mexican restaurants in Ohio.
The trendy street of W 25th in Ohio City near downtown embraces a modern Mexican restaurant that I love to visit. Avo hosts creative take on traditional culinary flavors. On my last date night there, we stepped inside the chill ambiance and enjoyed a fusion of contemporary and traditional charm. The staff is friendly, approachable, and attentive; taking care not to rush but still quick to deliver on food and drink. On the delightful array of tasty menu items, the fresh guacamole offers are a must. While the Caca guac is a trustworthy and scrumptious go-to for me, the lively Goat Cheese guac is a mouthwatering innovation to those who want a special tang. If guac is not your thing, count on the blended cheeses of melted chihuahua, oaxaca, manchego, and asadero in their fundido (especially with chorizo) with lime salted corn chips to arouse your palate! The chipotle quesadilla is a culinary adventure. Every bite of its flour shell, melted cheese, chorizo, chipotle crema, sautéed peppers and onions is a celebration of flavors, every bit as visually stunning as it is delectable; adding a spread of sour cream only has me craving more. For dinners, the cocktails are an ideal complement of crafted concoction. The Emma, Get Me a Lemon, with its limoncello, vanilla vodka, simple syrup, lemon, marshmallow fluff, egg white, toasted meringue, and graham cracker has a lingering, almost savory style that leaves me surprisingly warm inside for a cold drink. The house margarita is nothing to shy away from though! The mi campo blanco, gran gala, housemade mix, and lime present a novel zest with relaxed familiarity. Add a house-made syrup (pistachio for the intrepid among you) for a stimulating enhancement of character.
What a great find in the heart of Ohio City! Loved the atmosphere, service, and the food!
We stopped in right after they had just made it through a huge lunchtime rush so it took a little for the staff (1 exhausted waiter) to recover. Once we put our order in, the kitchen was very fast and the Colorado burrito was DELICIOUS. The house margaritas were great too. I'd absolutely recommend this spot to anyone looking for elevated Mexican food. Plus, you can park in the neighborhood behind the restaurant for free and walk the short distance unlike other places on West 25th.Parking: Behind the building is the start of the Ohio City residential zoning and the street parking is free and usually open. It's a very short walk to the front of the restaurant from there. You can always park on 25th if you have change and find a spot.
This place is 100% a vibe, especially in the summer!! I go once a year in the summer but I need to go more!! 1000
