Morton's The Steakhouse - Cleveland

I visited the restaurant with a reservation for my wife’s birthday. I was initially a bit skeptical after reading some reviews, especially because it's a chain, but I'm so glad we decided to try it! As steakhouse enthusiasts, we found this place to be one of the best value options in the city. I would even say they have the best side dishes—I'm a big fan of the Parmesan truffle fries and the chopped salad. The service was outstanding, thanks to Rick, and the restaurant itself was clean and professional. I would rank it among my top choices in the area, alongside Red, Delmonico’s, and Marble Room.

I dined here before heading to a concert, and I have to say the staff was welcoming right from the start. I chose a seat at the bar, where the bartender was not only friendly but also eager to answer any questions I had about the menu. The atmosphere was fantastic, and I was impressed by their excellent selection of bourbon and scotch. The salmon was absolutely perfect!

We started off with oysters on the half shell and a chopped house salad, followed by an 8 oz. filet mignon (which we ordered to share), Morton's prime burger with matchstick fries (not shown in the pictures), and the famous hot chocolate cake. The filet mignon was ordered medium rare, but it arrived slightly overcooked and a bit dry, though I still finished it all because I was quite hungry and didn’t want to wait for a replacement. To clarify, it wasn’t excessively overcooked, but for a steakhouse, I expected a higher standard. It was more medium than medium rare, with a slight pink center surrounded by more well-done meat. I mentioned this to the server as he cleared my plate—not to get any compensation, but just to inform the kitchen. To my surprise, the manager came over to apologize. I honestly didn’t think it ruined my meal, as I was just providing some feedback. However, he insisted we try a dessert on the house. I initially declined, feeling it wasn’t necessary, but he persisted and encouraged us to sample his favorite dessert, which turned out to be the legendary hot chocolate cake. I would visit Morton's just for this cake! It truly deserves its reputation—absolutely legendary! I had heard it takes 20 minutes for the cake to be prepared, but the wait was definitely worth it. From the crispy exterior to the warm, gooey chocolate center, paired with ice cream, it was mouthwatering. I can’t help but crave it just reminiscing about that first experience—it’s a must-have after your meal! The oysters were fresh and delicious, the house salad was tasty as expected, and the prime burger was cooked perfectly to our order (medium) and was also delectable. The matchstick fries were crispy and served piping hot. Our server in the lounge was wonderful, and the other staff who stopped by for water refills, food deliveries, or to clear plates were friendly and attentive. The service overall was exceptional. Last night was my first time coming to this location. i came pretty late for a monday and the reason i say that is because the kitchen was closing in five minutes, i was able to get a sit at the bar. the bar maid was pretty decent. i ordered the crab cake baked corn souffle. my company had the grilled oysters, i wish i was able to try them. my crab cake was prepared deliciously and i did like the corn soufflé, i just wished it would have been a little thicker. that’s just my preference. i would definitely be coming back to try other food items. plus no one told me about their bread, i really enjoyed it and we was able to get some fresh out the oven bread. i liked the onion flavoring. i recommend this location.

I worked as a valet for a company that contracted with this Morton's over 27 years ago. I moved out of the area but always remembered this restaurant and often talked about it. I decided to take my wife who was skeptical because she usually doesn't like steak and to her surprise she was amazed!!! The restaurant is AMAZING, the food is beyond AMAZING, and the atmosphere is very welcoming! Thank you!
