Chef Rosana and Chef Ricardo are culinary icons in the Tampa Bay area and beyond. R2's holiday meal options consistently exceed expectations in terms of flavor, especially with the perfection of smoked meats from the R2 smoker and Ricardo's rubs. I'm also a fan of their new take-home offerings, including Charcuterie kits, Brunch in a Box, and Burger kit boxes, among others! Rosana and Ricardo enjoy mixing things up and keeping it exciting, while also prioritizing the safety of both customers and staff; their large catering kitchen is impeccably clean. They are gracious and humble, genuinely caring about providing the best for their customers and the community. I savored some incredible empanadas, trying both the beef and vegetarian options. While I enjoyed both, I must admit I preferred the vegetarian one. This was my first experience with baked empanadas instead of the fried variety, and I have to apologize to Chef Ricardo—I think I’m now firmly on Team Baked! If you’ve never had a baked empanada, they have a texture reminiscent of a chicken pot pie, but even better. The chimichurri sauce that accompanied the empanadas was simply unbeatable. I probably shouldn’t admit this online, but in the privacy of my own home, I can confess that I literally licked the plate clean after finishing the empanadas. I would be the first to order that sauce in a jar if it ever became available! Their baked goods could easily outshine any bakery. The croissant was pure magic. The chefs behind R² are not only incredibly talented but also warm and charming. I can’t wait to see what other delights emerge from this amazing ghost kitchen—I feel like I’ve only just scratched the surface. Here’s hoping my little sister is on board for their catering for her upcoming wedding!

I recently had the pleasure of attending the Tampa Bakes Empanadas event with my wife, and I have to say, Chefs Rosana and Ricardo are an impressive team! They are not only absolute professionals and great teachers, but they also know how to entertain. The empanadas were truly exceptional, especially when paired with their house-made chimichurri—I couldn't get enough! Additionally, they surprised my wife with a croissant when she picked up the kits, and it was fantastic. Between their restaurants and this amazing experience, I can't recommend their food highly enough!

Had a great opportunity to try out one of their Empanadas kits at home and I had so much fun with it. I had never made empanada before but the kit made it very easy with the circle does pre cut and the filling made. You just put everything together, bake or fry it, and enjoy. Simple, fun, and very yummy. It comes with some absolutely amazing chimichurri sauce that adds even more great flavor. In the roughs times that we are in right now it is great to see business getting creative to help feed their community. The owners and chefs of this business really care about their community and put a lot of love into the food they make. You can taste difference. All in all great experience for me and my wife and I'm excited to try more empanadas and the other foods they have to offer!
