Just when we had stuffed ourselves, the owner/chef came out with the biggest fresh baked cinnamon buns with amazing icing! No, we hadn 't ordered it, the waitress explained the chef does this periodically, 'complimentary '. It was THE BEST!
The service was great, the server was super friendly and the food was great.
Passing through Claresholm on the way to Lethbridge and needed lunch. What a great place to stop! Awesome homemade food! Had a meatloaf burger and chicken vegetable soup...delicious!! My parents had the BBQ brisket...fantastic! Then we shared a monstrous cinnamon bun and what a great way to finish off the meal! Service was excellent! Definitely recommend Roy's Place!
Of course you'd want to eat here, but you don't have to, to enjoy the atmosphere of a real small town country diner.Located on the busy highway that runs through town, Roy's Place was just a-hopping when we drifted in for an evening meal. Full and noisy! No, not the irritating noise you get at Earls with too-loud music, just lots of people (the place was full!) talking and laughing and kids squeaking and, well, you get the idea.It was so welcoming, I wanted to stay for a meal.In a small town country diner, you can expect a character server. We got server Deb. What an open and friendly lady. Fun. Fast. Efficient. We wish new-owner Keith (not Roy) the best. I like it when the owner is not above helping the wait staff. He was out on the floor, serving and bussing. I suspect it would be a pleasure to work for him. When we came in, I asked an exiting patron, "How's the food?" "Try the dill pickle soup," he said (or some kind of soup made with pickles). It may have been wonderful, but I settled for a steak. I can't see pickles having anything to do with any kind of soup. The steak dinner was good, and my partner's fish and chips were described as quite acceptable.I took home a massive cinnamon bun for breakfast. Pretty good too. Cost $7.00 for that extravagance.Dinner cost $33
Clean and friendly. Beef dips were not exceptionally full of beef, but it was delicious Alberta beef and the bun was very nice. Wasn't crazy about the dip. Kids grilled cheese was great as was the pasta choice. French fries looked and tasted like they were made on premises, much better than commercial variety. Nice place to stop for a bite along the way.
