Our server was badly attentive and did not bring enough appetizer plates for everyone at the table. She told me she had other customers to wait and so she couldn't visit us. (We sat and ready before the other guests sat. I expect a better customer service for the hefty-priced experience.
Not one to leave a bad review. Especially, since I am in the business of dealing with customers. Overall, it 's a good location to have some wine BUT when I was there my server EV made it so unpleasant. Talk about ATTITUDE! Look I completely understand if you 're having a bad day. But don 't be take it on the customers. I wish I could leave a nice review. But tonight just made me realize that this isn 't a place where I want to enjoy my weekend nights. If you 're looking for a good spot to enjoy, go somewhere else.
I have been to Packing House Wines a few times, the most recent visit was last week. The vibe is warm and inviting, surrounded by racks of wines. The staff are always friendly, too, and if you can't find a bottle of wine you like here, you may be a bit picky the selection is vast. The food menu is limited, but it is primarily a wine bar. Sometimes larger groups of people make a bit of noise, and the table set up doesn't always provide for a quiet date night conversation, my only reason for not rating it five stars. I like this place and would gladly visit again when I am in the Claremont area.
I've always walked by here, but never tried it until last night. Initial impression was good. The server with the short short hair seemed to be nice. She greeted us and offered us inside or outside seating. We opted for bar seating at the edge. There were a good amount of people there, but not crazy busy or anything. Without greeting, an older gentleman asked what we wanted. I ordered two glasses of red, a CHEESE board, and the cauliflower. I'm big on customer service, sometimes more than the food itself. Service can make or break a business and unfortunately, it broke it for us. He took our order and went on his way. The two wine glasses come out, I held it in the light and I see a bunch of water stains on it. Not too appetizing, but dealt with it and drank it. The board comes out... but it wasn't a cheese board.. he put in a charcuterie board.. Yes, mistakes happen all the time in restaurants, but he didn't even come to us to apologize for making a mistake. Instead, the other employees apologizes. It's not their fault, they shouldn't have to apologize for the mistake. I'd understand if the gentleman was busy, but I see him walking around going table to table talking to his guests... but never came to us. I had a feeling that it may have been because we were the only Asians in the establishment...? I don't want to use the race card, but it definitely felt like that with him. ANYWAYS, back to the food. The board looked a little messy, but still edible. I've had better at other establishments for the same price. The cauliflower dish was bland, but again, it was edible. End of the night, i spent about $90 including tip for a service that was subpar and food that was subpar. The extra star goes to the welcoming server with the short short hair and her discounting the mistake on the cheese board order. Plenty of other wine bars around to go to that has great service and delicious food.
I have walked passed the wine shop a hundred times. Finally stopped in for a glass of wine and a snack. The workers here were super friendly when we walked in, very welcoming. I will say that I am not a huge wine drinker but I did order a glass of wine even though they do have a beer menu also. Looking over there menu their prices were very reasonable for food, their burgers if I remember correctly started around 12 dollars. We were not super hungry and ordered the charcuterie board. We very much enjoyed this. Overall this was a very good experience. I will definitely be back to try more of their food, we did see a few items come out of the kitchen that looked delicious, hopefully they taste as good as they looked.
