The dried plantains(macho bananas) is without flavor and really dry. My guide seems to love it. I don 't. The coffee is excellent and so is the papaya agua fresca smoothy.
Looking for a yummy cup of coffee? Well, this is a great little place to stop in Panama City. We came across it when walking thru the neighborhood had a nice relaxing cup here. The staff are friendly they have some nice items for sale as well. We opted to leave the gifts behind and bought ourselves a bag of coffee! Best decision ever!!! So glad we brought a bag home with us!
Let me get this out of the way; I came here because it was one of two places in Panamá on Yelp!. In the words of the great Marshawn Lynch You know why I 'm here . We needed a place for breakfast and this fit the bill. The actual establishment is nice and clean. Only English music was played so it almost gave the feeling of being home. The staff were nice and while they didn 't speak much, they took care of us. The macchiato was pretty good, but as long as you have a decent machine to make it, you shouldn 't mess it up. The food was probably the weak point. I ordered the Desayuno Panameño (Panamanian Breakfast because when in Rome , right? I wouldn 't have felt right ordering something I would typically see in the U.S. the breakfast consisted of 1/2 steak, Sunny side up egg, and two Panamanian tortillas with cheese on top. The steak was a bit rough, the egg was superb, and the tortillas were mediocre and it just seemed like pieces of cheese were laid on top. Not melted or any care given to their presentation. The overall taste of the meal was decent. Nothing special but it did the job. Overall this was a decent place and offers some very American options (as do many places in Panamá . I would say give it a try and see what you think of it.
The fact that I can write a review in Panama when Yelp hasn't even opened Panama up for reviews is pretty awesome. What I can say about this bistro is that it offers an all day breakfast that would make McDonald's envious. It's a fairly traditional spot and not at all like a French bistro. Overall, I say that it is a winner. Btw, Yelp gurus, I would love a Panama badge for checking in ;
