My go to spot for my Birthday. Companion had the Lemon Haddock. I had the Shrimp Genoase includes side salad. Never disappoints, plus I have leftover for tomorrow.
Been going there for years. Went tonight and not going back. only good part of the meal was the bread. I’ve had the shrimp Genoese there for numerous times and it’s not the same. Was a darker sauce and didn’t taste the Sherry. Big disappointment! The veal parm was dry and on top of the pasta with dry linguine, no sauce. Just placed a big dry piece of veal over it with sauce on the veal. Terrible meal.
Love the food, the pasta and fresh ingredients, the fish and shrimp are always cooked perfectly, the service is very attentive and friendly, the atmosphere needs a little neutralization, getting away from the murals, carpets and oak furniture. Overall it cannot be beat!
We had dinner here in June and it was superlative in every way! Every detail was perfect: fresh salads constructed with sturdy, fresh lettuce and topped house-made dressings (the garlic ranch was especially divine); my husband’s strip steak was charred a perfect Pittsburgh; my Haddock Francaise was moist, lemony, and delicious. You know a restaurant has their act together when even side dishes are excellent: the French green beans were exquisite as were the mashed potatoes. Our waitress, Alyssa, was friendly, and very professional. We haven’t been to a restaurant in many years where we could say everything was a home run, but Pennell’s pulled it off. Even the bus boys were nice! Parking: The restaurant has its own parking lot, and plenty of it.
