Definitely the place where everyday goes. Caters to all age groups and all people. Ice cold beer and large mixed drinks. If you can't have a laugh along with your drink you can't do it anywhere. Outstanding and friendly staff.

I booked a 40th bday party back in October, for January. I paid the $100 deposit. It 's about 4 weeks away, and I just get a phone calling telling me whoops, we overbooked . When I went in the bartender showed me the calendar, it was empty, and she took all my info. Apparently, the bartender forgot to write in my info and they booked someone else. Instead of giving it to me, who booked it first, they cancelled my party. I 'm livid. I will NEVER bring my business here again (this would have been the 3rd time using their facility) and I will make sure that everyone knows of my experience. How inconsiderate! Let 's hope I can find another venue...

$4.75 for two beers? Yes, please! Meron 's is the standby bar for my circle of friends back in the 518. It 's dependable, it 's low-key, it has that charming small-town unpretentious air about it, and it 's extremely reasonably priced. The bar looks like something that one would find in a suburban basement. There are lots of little random knick-knacks: nesting dolls, a Red Sox banner (and here I thought that in upstate NY everyone was a Yankees fan by default--who knew? , etc. There 's even a cat! Don 't expect to find Magic Hat, Saranac, or any fancy-schmancy brews here. Lawnmower beers on tap rule the roost, with the occasional exotic choices like Yuengling or Amstel thrown in for variety. Oh, and Plattsburgh is Labatt-town, through and through. Meron 's is also a restaurant, so that probably accounts for the homey feel of the place. There 's a good sized dining room area with some pool tables and dartboards, if that 's your thang. When my friends and I went, there were about 3 other people in the bar, all of whom were preoccupied with playing pool. Then again, it was a Tuesday night during the summer break. It 's almost unheard-of to go out for a drink under such circumstances 'round those parts.However, the speakers were absolutely blaring, which I found totally unnecessary, given the dearth of patrons that night. My friends and I had a hard time keeping up a conversation over the roar of Crash Into Me . I 'm no expert, since I went here on a weeknight during a time of year when most of the college-aged guys are out of town, but it was refreshing and relaxing to be there simply having a drink with two of my oldest friends. No meat market or skeezy patrons to be found here. However, my friends tell me that on another of their trips to Meron 's, they were approached and propositioned by a scraggly fellow and his wheelchair-bound friend. Apparently I have horrible timing when it comes to planning my trips home.

Great neighborhood bar, you can go for a quiet drink, or hang out with everyone at the bar. You can even rent out there party room for special events. It's a great place.

Glad that Google updated the listing to show this place as a bar and not a restaurant. There is no menu. There are no servers. The only food in the place is behind the bar and consists of bagged snacks or maybe a pickled egg or pickled sausage. That's it. There's a decent size seating area and they do host small parties and events and such, but you must bring your own food. They have a kitchen which can be used for refrigerating the food you've brought for the event ahead of time, but they don't serve anything. You need to provide your own service. They will prepare the seating area ahead of time for you and move the pool table if necessary. On occasion you will see a small live music setup in the area where the jukebox is. Not enough room for a full band or anything, but maybe a guitar player or something like that. Again, this is only if you happen to walk in when an event is going on and the organizers of that event have provided live music. The bar doesn't host live shows or anything like that. Basically, the seating area is for relaxing with a group of friends and a pitcher and some drinks. You won't get a waitress or sever coming to your table or anything like that. You go to the bar, order what you want and bring it back to your table. But as such, it can be a good place to kick back and relax if you don't want a busy noisy typical bar atmosphere and just want to sit in a booth and chat and have a few drinks. A little disappointed in that the pool table has been ignored and is in terrible condition. In years past, the table was the best in town and they were always careful to keep the felt and bumpers in shape as well as provide decent house sticks. Those days are gone. The bumpers on the table are dead, the surface is uneven with terrible ball rolls and the felt is extremely dirty and bumpy because of so many large dirt particles on it. It's obvious it hasn't even been swept, let alone replaced. However, at 75 cents a game it's pretty much the cheapest place in town to play on a full size table (not a small bar size table). So even though it's a full size table, don't expect tournament level quality or even a serious game because of the absolutely terrible condition of the table. The clientele is all locals and on the older side. College students really don't frequent this place much. You'll find mostly age 30+ and the standard array of old time locals sitting at the bar musing about life. Lol. The owners are awesome people (Jim was formerly the mayor in Plattsburgh). However, in recent years the busyness of this place has fallen off sharply. You can go here pretty much any time on any day or night and it will not be crowded (unless there is an organized party or special event taking place). If you want to plan a party or a get together for maybe 10 to 30 people, it can be a good choice depending on your expectations and needs. Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly as this is a bar, but if you are hosting a party or a vent here, children are definitely allowed.
