The Griffon Gastropub Niagara Falls

Arrived at 11:15. No food available. Hostess was sitting in the first booth and wouldn 't even stand up to talk to us. Just yelled out that kitchen 's closed if they have any food at all it will be chicken strips at the bar.

Amazing food and service. Grilled cheese bites are ridiculously good! Server was so nice.

Simple restaurant that seems like it is more of a bar spot as there was only one other group eating dinner there at 530. They're unique in the fact they have specialty game burgers like kangaroo, and that several dishes feature maple butter, maple mayo etc. The corn fritters were surprising as the corn was whole kernels inside, and it was more like a fried dough in maple sauce, and delicious. Main course of shrimp gnocchi was also very good. Chocolate peanut butter pie was not at sweet at expected and there was something more gritty in it that I thought was coconut but perhaps was crushed real peanuts. It was smaller than expected and not really big enough to share. 3 drinks, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert was $100. Server was great and friendly, but we also were only one of 2 tables there. It's nice to have a place you don't have to worry about a wait to get in.

It's a popular pub/ eatery in the neighborhood and seems people like it a lot. Perhaps it's the beer selections, live music, cheerful waitresses, or the greeting smiles from the queuing front desk host. I like all those aspects pretty much. But I found the food there was very salty. I mean there were sooooooo much MSG added to their food. You probably won't feel any problem while eating. But a few hours later after we left, we were all so thirsty and looking for water all night long. A good restaurant pub with a different way of cooking to avoid that much MSG in all the food would be great.

The food was both unique and familiar at the same time. For instance, the chicken Caesar salad was served in a wedge style, grilled, and included tomatoes. The chicken and waffles dish balanced sweetness (from the waffle and candied bacon) with saltiness (thanks to the pickle slaw), making it truly outstanding with vibrant flavors. I'm excited to try more of their dishes. Overall, the menu is inventive, delicious, and familiar—far superior to any chain restaurant in the area. If I had to pick something to critique, it would be the ambiance, as the restaurant could benefit from an update. Another minor issue was the tip options on the machine, which automatically suggested 20%, 22%, and 25%. I find that a bit excessive. Nevertheless, we will definitely be returning!
