Essen Ny Deli - City of New York

We recently hosted a 70th birthday party in the "back room" of Essen on Coney, and everything was perfect! The service was excellent, thanks to Eric Juliani, and the food was outstanding. They collaborated with me on the menu, making additions without hesitation when we discussed the various options. Everyone who attended was truly impressed by the beauty and elegance of the entire evening. We highly recommend this venue!

I had lunch here with a coworker and took the recommendation to try the turkey roast sandwich on rye bread, along with fries. I loved the generous amount of turkey in the sandwich—seriously, it must have been around half a pound! It was mostly turkey! The rye bread was also wonderfully soft. Additionally, the whole pickle appetizer was really tasty.

The hot pastrami on rye or as a club is a must-try, perfectly cured! However, I have to mention the onion rings; the batter they used was quite disappointing. It felt like a bowl of raw batter. They really need to either improve it with a breadcrumb texture or remove it from the menu entirely, as it took away from an otherwise delicious meal.

The lean pastrami is the best thing by far! I drive from Staten Island just to go to this place. AMAZING.
